Top half and courting the playoffs would be development and a sound basis for a good push the year after. Anything can happen of course if a team gets on a run but if that was on offer right now I’d take given the tumultuous years we’ve had.
Most important thing is to build the team and spine back up. Pick 11 players as consistently as possible.

10th-15th with the season starting soon again ,injures will hit us hard plus our over 30s will run out of steam Injuries are random - they hit players of all ages and it's youngsters who run out of steam - old pros are physically stronger, have more stamina, know how to preserve their energy and have that been there, done that quality that can see you over the line. Look at (ageing) Fulham and (youthful) Brentford - it's a Marathon not a sprint.

If Brentford and Forest are some of the division’s top sides, and our new look MON team beat them both when they both needed a result - then I’d be very optimistic about 20/21

Forest are bang average and we made them look garbage. I'm hopeful of 5th to 10th , fine margins

After believing Nathan last season, i have absolutely no expectations at all. Keep the mind open and won't get pee'd off so much. Hope for best , expect the worst,, that saying could have been written for us.

We all now know now that this division is not as easy as many thought it would be when we dropped from the Premiership.
To be honest I have, and hopefully will continue to enjoy it.
There is no reason why we can not feel optimistic this season. It will be a rollercoaster ride with many Ups and Downs but the playoffs or maybe even better are quite achievable. ⚓️

I'm hopeful of 5th to 10th , fine margins The fact that Brentford bottled it is a very good gauge - we needed points as much as Brentford and they bottled it, we didn't. In a tight run in I know where I'd put my money, I thought Forest were pretty good against us in the first hour - we rode it out and when the pressure was on we were ruthless and they fell apart. In both cases we showed more nous and bottle than the opposition - which is great credit to the team spirit and good character O'Neill has started to instil in the team. You are right about fine margins - but those 2 examples demonstrate we may well actually have an edge over some of the opposition.

Midtable, anything more people are deluding themselves. Why? Our form since MON came in was better than that We don't have the quality/consistancy to keep it up, if we reach the playoffs great but I can't see it and the signings we've made don't really make me think otherwise, that along with certain undroppable players and a moronic love for 4-3-3 and I think it all adds up to midtable. Now if MON makes the changes, drops the players and moves away from 4-3-3 like he did before which in turn got us the results then maybe we could push for around 10th.

To be fair how many teams in the play off push did? I see your point but all teams in the top half, barring maybe 3 , had up and down seasons. The reason we weren't there was our dismal start. I wouldn't call MON's points return being down to a moronic love for 433. Our home form was excellent, as he's said himself we need to improve away.

Will Clucas score the goals? If he doesn’t will someone else? Will the defence suddenly be able to defend?

I’d also argue they aren’t actually any worse than most other defences in the league, we clearly require better protection from midfield, hopefully Mikel can provide that.

The centre halves are poor, yes they get no help from the midfield so hopefully Allen for Mikel helps that.

Well you’ve partially agreed so that’s a bonus in my book😉 I actually think it’s less about the centre halves and more about the full backs and defensive mid. I think the centre halves get hung out to dry a fair bit and when teams go through us and score easy goals it usually stems from the other positions. Just my opinion of course which you’re welcome to dismiss as you see fit😉

As I keep saying I’d happily replace the back 6 that started against Forest.

OK I agree they’ve not been very good last season but I’ve seen promising signs apart from one or two games in the last part of the season. Like you say Forest first half is an example of that. But I mean can we not just have a bit of positivity that the manager can get them at least organised and playing as a unit? If he can do that those defenders are good enough for the division.

In and around the playoffs has to be the aim. Bottom half completely unacceptable with our armoury, however diminished it is.

My expectations are 14th with a bit of luck. You buy shit over the hill footballers and league 1 standard players and you will end up there. I would like to know our transfer strategy as the 3 signings we have made are very worrying for our future Depends on whether you are talking short term, or medium term. See no reason why the 3 cannot provide additional capability to the squad, they don't have long term contracts, they do have some very good experience. Short term we seem to have a decent blend. Medium term, we will gradually lose the millstone set, then we can add accordingly. As much as anyone can predict, especially with this division, I say the future's bright(er), the future's MON.

Yep ok but picking negatives over many positives .All managers get things wrong in this mad division and like you said will learn I think Huddersfield had 3 x 4-0 defeats in their promotion season. Maybe not a good example I just think we're NOW better than teams who came above us, Look how we caught teams up under MON
