Top 10 minimum, play offs if we're lucky.

Woe betide anyone to have any expectations of the most expensively assembled squad in the division.... what are you expecting then Pugs? & are we still the most expensively assembled squad? Bournemouth squad will surely have cost more than ours & possibly Watfords too?

Top 10, a solid away record and a + GD would be decent progress.

Top 10, a solid away record and a + GD would be decent progress. If we have a solid away record and then maintain MON’s home form since he came in. That would guarantee play offs.

I like the general positivity. I hope we won’t have Unrealistic Expectations (Dickens’ never-published sequel) and put too much pressure on the players and, especially, the manager.

My only expectation is to be pleasantly surprised at this point, but I'm thinking in the top dozen or so.

Pushing for play offs or sneaking in. Maybe a little over expectant but I liked what I saw in the closing stages of last season. So much so I’ve plumped for a £20 bet on promotion at 13/2 and £20 on Champions at 20/1.

MON will start the season targeting 138 points. I’d certainly be happy with 100+

The teams in this league (including us) are pretty crap. We do have potential however. If we start well, the playoffs is not unreasonable.

My expectations are 14th with a bit of luck.
You buy shit over the hill footballers and league 1 standard players and you will end up there.
I would like to know our transfer strategy as the 3 signings we have made are very worrying for our future

Its no time for a club like Stoke, looking for a return to PL, to be searching for good well balanced side with age, pace and agility, no no no. The strategy is and as been for a while Fuck the future. And we do it so well.

Get a great start, win more away games, especially in London for once, make the Bet 365 into our fortress, then their should be no reason why promotion shouldn’t be a possibility, their are no stand out teams in this division this season

I'd be gutted if we didn't manage top 10. As for expectations, I think we have a better than even chance of making the play offs. As someone said earlier in the thread, momentum is very important in football. So far in MON's reign we are one of the teams with momentum, hopefully he will manage to get over the hurdle of our customary bad start - if he does, then I think we will make the play offs.

Fox could/should be an upgrade on the left back because we didn’t have one. But again the jury is out from me if he is actually any good. I hope I’m wrong but I saw enough of Chester last season to hope he never plays for us again, and at 33 I don’t know what fletcher offers that we don’t have in vokes and afobe. I really hope I’m proven wrong as I was success but I just don’t see anything to get remotely excited about

I think we will finish in the top 24 and that we will be the first club to need a pee break rather than a drinks break - for our aging players

Agreed regarding the momentum point especially with such a short break following the final games of last season. I just hope we can have a good start as many others have said - we even started the mini-season poorly (albeit after a few months break) but finished strongly. So it would be nice to be sitting mid-table or better after 10-15 matches. Surely you have to look at our form since Michael came and took a team with morale and performance on the floor and averaged 7th best achievement in the league from all of his matches. That has to give some hope that we could well be challenging for the play-offs. I know things are not as simple as that though to just assume he can continue to achieve at that level but I do have confidence in him. Taking all into account, my expectation is we will finish 7th-12th but my hope is that we can scrape the play-offs or maybe even promotion if we are lucky with injuries and Michael helps us to find another shift in gear in addition to the other shifts he has already found.

Expectations....Whose? The Club’s or the Supporters?
The Club has certainly been successful in lowering the “Supporters” expectations from;
1. Sustainable EPL football with the potential for a decent Cup run if the draws were kind (TP) 2. A top six EPL side (MH) 3. A promotion favourite (Rowett/Jones)
My expectations (hopes)
1. Lessons have been learned and MON gets off to a solid start, being there or there about’s come Xmas.
2. Players not in MON’s plans have been moved on this August, if not all gone in the January window
3. The January window gives MON the opportunity to build on the solid start and we find ourselves in the playoffs come next May

My expectation is to get promoted as champions however the reality is I'll probably end up left furious and humiliated at our abject failure in the low regions of the table.

No idea. Depends if our new signings turn to shit on arriving at stoke like 95% of them have been seen to do and wether they take no prisoners in the dressing room, or not. Whatever it is and what causes it is not a myth, its a fact.
I expect top 4, no pace in the team though, aging squad, is the motivation and eagerness there? .. remains to be seen.
Expectation top 4
Prediction anywhere between 4th and 18th if the window shut right now.
