2750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate at the site was the cause of the explosion.

Fuck off was it. Fuck off and take your retarded conspiracy theories with you. You can quite clearly see a fire before the main explosion. And just to prove a point, would you care to highlight exactly what conventional missile Israel, or any other country for that matter, has that can cause a detonation of that magnitude? Oh and it was an invisible missile too, was it? And what caused the main fire? There's no audio of that is there... There are numerous " conventional missiles" that can be used... The " detonation" was due to the facility being a munitions dump. See the video ( there are numerous more) for the " invisible missile". Your in no position to call anyone a retard are you - I've countered every point you've made. Perhaps you should go away for a bit and brush up on your reading comprehension and your critical thinking skills. And just for the record, I never called you a 'retard', I refered to the dumb conspiracy theory that you're peddling as being 'retarded'. But hey, like I said, if you go away and brush up on your comprehension skills you won't make that mistake again, will you?

Clearly an accident but reading recently there’s been a number of unexplained explosions in certain countries of late Since late June there have been several unexplained fires or blasts at sensitive sites: 26 June: Blast at a liquid fuel production facility for ballistic missiles in Khojir, close to Parchin, near Tehran; fire at power plant in Shiraz, causing a blackout 30 June: Explosion at a medical clinic in Tehran, 19 people killed 2 July: Blast and fire at Natanz nuclear site 3 July: Large fire in Shiraz 4 July: Explosion and fire in power plant in Ahwaz; chlorine gas leak at Karoun petrochemical plant in Mahshahr Not to mention: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8591513/Six-people-killed-Chinese-chemical-factory-near-Wuhan-exploded.html

2750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate at the site was the cause of the explosion. A white crystalline solid, highly soluble in water, predominantly used in agriculture as a fertilizer. Just shows if there is enough of anything...

Fuck me, that is a hell of lot of ammonium nitrate to have lying around in one location. Especially when you consider that McVeigh used less than 2500kg in Oklahoma City, and look what that did to a reinforced Federal building. Back in the mists of time when I was at university a friend and I used to make beer tokens by clearing tree stumps from fields with homemade explosives. These days we'd have been put on some list, but one thing we did not fuck around with was ammonium nitrate, or rather ANFO.

They were warned re the storage previously. The conspiracy theorists will have a field day.
Great to see Israel offering help and support but I guess some will see issues with that.

Actually it is imaginable. Because it happened once before - the Texas City disasterNear enough the same amount of ammonium nitrate exploded. What followed is pretty much what happened in Beirut. Astonishing that it was stored where it was.

It’s like fucking gunpowder all powders seems to be just had to complete a big DSEAR risk assessment on our powder coating plant for insurance purposes. The insurance company were having a wobble over the storage and containment of powders not in use due to stuff like this happening. Seems like a perfect storm in Beirut the ammonia, benzene of some kind the grain storage all just going at once in the same place. Who ever wrote a risk assessment for that place needs look for a new job if he survived.

Obviously the moral of the story is....don't store your explosive material next to a fireworks factory.

It Certainly left a big bloody hole! Those two ships at anchor have hardly moved having seen a before and after shot. Yes and I think there may have been a ship moored up right by the blast? I am sure I saw one there from a pic or video mate, its gone now of course. Nobody stood a chance within the port area surely

It seems to have been moved off an abandoned ship from Ukraine or sailing from that area. The owners abandoned it as it was unseaworthy and impounded. Some question to ask from whatever company did that.

If the death toll is really the 135 or so they are reporting then its a miracle.
A blast felt 150 miles away in Cyprus in the port in the heart of a city of 2.4 million people.
It seems scarcely believable.
