It's selfish, and I hate myself for it a bit, but truthfully I feel more positive than negative about this news I'm not going to lie.
It's easier to take with Wednesday, massive club who might spend a few years in the doldrums but it won't be the end for them really. Hope Derby see something similar too, both clubs will survive it and both have taken the piss with FFP when we have had to work hard to stay within it.
That said, FFP is a fucking joke.

You have to look at the example of Wigan this past season. They were struggling along the lines of ourselves for much of the season. But when the 12 point deduction materialised they suddenly went on a winning spree the likes of which you wouldn't expect from a club in their position. It was impressive and everyone wanted them to succeed, which sadly they didn't. I know when you look at minus twelve it looks like a lot, but, over a 46-game season, it's just four wins and you're level with the bad starters and and maybe just one more and you're out of trouble. If you can't do that you don't belong in the pro game.

We stayed on our own merits which I'm extremely proud of but I really believe that whilst we may not be vying for the top 2 although I hope we are I certainly don't think we'll be bumming around the bottom 5 next season but again no fans might yet still have a big impact on teams.

If you can't do that you don't belong in the pro game. It's a bit different though in that for Wigan it happened during the season, and they were already out of the relegation zone so they went into it with reasonable morale. Wednesday players are all onto their agents right now, get me out of this sinking ship. No one will want to go there, understandably, and the heads will drop now. Sure Wigan put in some belting performances for the final month or two of the season, that's much easier to do than an entire one.

The EFL make it up as they go along don't they. That absolute circus needs a bigger overhaul than our playing squad, and that takes some doing. The 12 point deduction being applied next season isn't down to the EFL...it even says that in the actual tweet a few posts above! It's an independent panel that have deferred the deduction, not the EFL. Indeed it does but to be fair mate it does say that the panel was appointed under EFL regulations, so I guess it's safe to assume that the panel are determining the punishment and (importantly) deciding WHEN that punishment is implemented, based on existing EFL regulations ... The EFL's statement read: "An independent Disciplinary Commission, appointed under EFL Regulations, has ruled that Sheffield Wednesday will receive a 12 point deduction for breaching the League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules for the three season reporting period ending with Season 2017/18." Surely either the EFL or the panel or both, need to explain why Wigan's punishment has been administered this season but Wednesday's doesn't kick in until next season? Indeed is there a possibility that Wigan whilst not actually winning their appeal, might find that they too (based on when Wednesday's punishment is going to be administered) are able to get their punishment deferred to next season, which would in turn then see Barnsley relegated? Without a full explanation as to why the two clubs have been treated differently, I don't think there's too much wrong, with suggesting that "they appear to be making it up as they go along".

This is just sick and wrong. Anyone laughing at this take heed - it could be us one day and there will be nobody prepared to stand up and fight for or with us. The EFL need shaking up. The bloke is investing in his club and area and the rules are doing nothing but stopping it, all because they think it is a way to stop rogue owners destroying clubs once they've faked their way past their 'not fit for purpose' fit and proper persons test. Fair enough, but I still want it to happen to Derby

How does theirs come in next season, yet Wigan are down because theirs came in this season? Awful
The logic (if it can be called that) is that the Wigan offence was an absolute slam dunk, go into admin, lose 12 points, no argument, no appeal.
Wednesday's offence had to go before a tribunal with arguments on each side to find if what was done was allowable or not. The hearing was always scheduled for June/July so was always going to affect next season. To suddenly have it affect this season because of COVID19 would have been challenged in court. (An irony is that if Wednesday had finished on or above 61, as seemed likely for ages, then obviously they would have wanted it this season, but been forced to take it next season, them's the breaks I guess)

So here is my order of preference, not that it is any of your "rolling eyes" business. 1 Stoke City 2 Sheffield Wednesday 3 Glasgow Rangers 4 Linfield Athletic. and I also like to follow Biddulph Victoria. You need to widen your horizons you give me the impression of bring a very uptight and small minded person. Enjoy the fine weather. Ta ra.

Next season will be a struggle for them with a 12 point deduction. There are some extremely pedantic people on the Oatcake site. Perhaps they should get jobs as proof readers for the national newspapers. God help anyone who dares to make a spelling mistake on here. Back to my second favourite football club who bent the rules and have been punished, and rightly so. Monk will walk or be sacked. He will not be missed. Hillsborough is a great away day for visiting fans. I sit on their Kop end with some of my Wendys mates and they sit on the Boothen end with me and my Stoke mates. Always great days out, both set of fans show each other respect and never any trouble. Where is it written that you are only allowed to follow one football club ?. This is what supporting a football club or clubs should be like.

Wigan have gone into administration, SW have broken profit and sustainability rules, different punishments for different misdemeanors Probably different sides of the same coin, though. It is quite possible that, had Sheffield Wednesday NOT broken profit and sustainability rules, they too might have ended up in administration just like Wigan. If that is the case, then a deliberate breaking of the rules by Wednesday has meant that they have avoided Wigan's fate - for this season at least. That's hardly going to prevent other clubs being tempted to do what Wednesday did - is it? For serious offences against FFP, I'm not sure that a points deduction is the right punishment. If an offence is serious enough to merit relegation, then that should be the punishment. Compare it with our justice system. For less serious offences fines are imposed - this often means that the richer criminals get off lightly because they can easily afford the fines whilst poorer criminals can't. For many SERIOUS offences prison terms are imposed - and the rich and poor both suffer in much the same way as they both lose their liberty for the same period.

Irrespective of different breaches the fact that points are deducted in different seasons is quite simply- wrong.

You might envy or admire some teams, such as perhaps Man City currently, because of their style, or you might pity some disadvantaged ones, like say Port Vale. But overall I'm sure that one team is more than enough for anyone.

I always look out for York City's results:
a) Because most of my family live in York, and I have an affection for the city from many visits as a child.
b) Because it rhymes with "pork".
