Construction industry is mainly outdoors isn't it? The ones we've had working internally have all practiced SD and PPE Sparkys, plumbers, painters, floor layers, chippys, etc, etc. All work indoors in each others way mate. Then take into account site toilets, canteens, meeting rooms, induction rooms, site office. 12 hours a day, not many people go the pub all day. Just the lucky few. The construction industry should have seen many of these so called spikes? Shirley. Floor layers, house should be completed, clean and empty (it never was though ) But most of those jobs aren't on top of each other and can/should be managed for limited access I was in a site a couple of weeks ago looking inside at an electric room, I insisted everybody wear masks when inside. Toilets should be managed for access and cleaning, PPE should be worn when cleaning. We've seen a lot of NHS staff contract and die from it, that's close proximity.

The majority of my work involves being in people’s houses fitting kitchens, internal doors etc etc. which is easily manageable to avoid people by socially distancing, wearing PPE, disinfecting/washing hands?

That’s the ideal yes. In my experience it’s easier to socially distance in a beer garden than it is working in someone’s 2 up 2 down terrace. We use our common sense and if we feel at risk we don’t go in, much like a packed pub on a Saturday night.

[br I’ve been on plenty of sites since march where everyone is working on top of each other. Try getting people working on a price and managers working towards practical completion with late penalties to give a fuck about social distancing. Like I said, it should have decimated the construction industry..

Most sites I've been lately have been thought out one way systems, staggered break times/start times but the actual work now is crack on we need to hit programme/completion dates, milestones etc. Lads on price need to earn a living, cant be doing jack shit incase the get within 2mtrs of other trades.

Exactly, price workers haven’t got a choice unless they want to lose money. I’d like to know the thinking behind not locking down the construction industry but shutting down everything else. I’m not complaining but a deadly virus is a deadly virus, unless you work in construction? It’s all made up.

Instead of making face masks compulsory in shops, perhaps the government should dish out high viz vests and hard hats to the public. They seem do the trick making you immune from the threat.
