Why just why?
He’s never played for Stoke and there is rarely anything in his words of note just stating the obvious for me?
I know he’s from here but Macari and Pejic yes but Earle?
Anybody else think this it just seems they never change anything! Give it Mama, Lennie or Rick?

I think he is there to provide balance and a 'Vale' voice. However, we all know Vale are irrelevant and no one is interested so he has to talk about Stoke

Always speaks well of us and didn't he start out with us as a junior? Never got the impression he was anti Stoke, don't have a problem with him myself

He's a Stoke lad, went to Longton High School, is an experienced journalist been in the media field for about 15 years, played nearly 300 games for Vale. Played at the top level.
Whether you like his journalism or not (and you can find a weakness in nearly every ex-footballers journalism skills) I think he is well qualified.
Also at a time when racism is such a massive issue in society, particularly in football and sadly in this area, where black footballers are on the end of malicious social media every single week you could argue his is an important voice to have in the mix.

He played for our youth team, and to be frank, i've had to listen to Liam Lawrence during the post lockdown streaming and i've never heard so much negative drivel in my life. Not for me thanks.

His column's far better than the one penned by 'The Bozlem David Irving' Tom Pope.
Speaking of Popey, I noticed the other day that The Sneyd Arms had delayed opening, so I'm not sure where he'll be powdering his nose these days- The Green Star maybe?

Whose opinion would I prefer to consider?
A local lad, knows the area, has connections with both local sides, come through the ranks, played at the top level, was a really decent player, whose opinions and thoughts are based on extensive knowledge and experience of the game? Or your average poster on the Oatcake?
Over to you Robbie.

Average poster on the oatcake too SCFC biased though. Could do a combo. Is there any onevalefan posters knowledgebale enough to qualify as average?

Don't understand why anyone would have anything negative to say about him. He's nothing but a credit to the area and to his profession.

Strange way of looking at things.

I'm firmly in favour of Robbie, he's a good writer and his views are balanced. Just one gripe, which also applies to Macari, it's that they sometimes talk about games, the most recent, that they haven't even seen, not even the highlights. They just rely on what other people say and form a generalised opinion on that.
Not that I haven't done something similar on occasion, but let's not talk about that!

Couldn't care less if he played for Vale. It's great hearing his thick Stokie accent on NBC plus he's good at what he does.
He should just drop duck in a few times though.

He’s a regular pundit over here. He knows his stuff and he hasn’t lost his potteries accent, unlike some who move away! I really enjoy listening to him. He lost his way as a journalist when selling his complimentary World Cup tickets, which was not allowed (or was it Olympics tickets? I don’t recall).

He's got some clout in the US it seems....it's odd to hear that accent over here when I tuned in for the last game of the season the other day.

Top bloke Robbie, should have played for England at his peak he was top goal scoring midfielder at the time but Hoddle never picked him as he played for the less glamorous Wimbledon.

Bumped into him and Mark Bright who were on holiday with families in south of France. Introduced myself as a Stokie and they were very happy to chat and have a laugh, particularly when I said, "We've come a long way from Hanley eh?" Seemed good lads.

I don't think he sold the tickets (SA World Cup?). He gave them away to 'friends' who subsequently sold them on to a Mass Marketing Co.

Pretty amazing that Stoke has produced not one, not two, but three black lads from difficult working-class backgrounds who became not just outstanding footballers at a time when racism was rife, but also highly successful broadcasters later in their careers. They're a credit to the area when you think about it like.

He was let go by Stoke after he broke his leg (I think) Saw him play div 4 for Vale a few times and he really wasn't very good...but persevered (as did Rudge with him) and he ended up a tremendous player for them.
