We were driving to our family holiday destination to South Wales in my Dads Austin A40 (or Alpha Four Zero as he preferred to call it) listening to the game on radio.

My only real memory of it is lying on the floor of our living room watching it, not really realising what a big deal it was then looking up at my Dad and my mum's brother jumping up and down on the sofa going absolutely mental. About 20 years ago I was on a cruise, went for a drink whilst waiting for the wife to get ready and the bar had just started a rerun of the full match (pretty sure it was in colour too) so I watched it 'properly' for the first time

Remember playing footie in the garden at half time...even at 10 years of age I was concerned that people running on the pitch might cause the ref to somehow punish England...just as they always seemed to do to Stoke That paranoia has stayed with me all these years, being topped up on a regular basis by the likes of Styles, Danson, Atkinson et al

Watched it on TV (black and white of course) with the girlfriend and her family at their house on the Westlands as my parents had just moved to Cambridge from Newcastle. Amazingly (because I normally never win a thing) I had bet on England to win and West Germany to be the defeated finalists the day before the tournament started. I only bet 10 bob (50p for you youngsters) but the odds on that result (I didn't bet on the score) meant I could take the gf and her mum and dad out to a slap up meal with my winnings! Happy days.

Watched it on tv with my Dad.
The last minute German equaliser caused the biggest reaction from him I can remember from any football match.
I was calm throughout. For some reason I just knew we were going to win.

I watched it at my dad's on the black and white telly. We were both jumping up and down when that 4th goal went in. He died two years later so it's one of my most precious memories of us together. Thanks Josef. OS.

She married another teacher she met in Hong Kong when she went there for a few year's teaching experience. I didn't keep in touch with her but my mother did and used to give me regular updates. When I got engaged I told my mum to stop as, understandably, my fiancee didn't want regular updates on an old flame of mine every time we visited my parents!

I remember swimming around in my dads nut sack minding my own business, and then i was being sloshed around like an earthquake had gone off, before it all settled down again. Then 3 years later i found myself in a cave for 9 months. It was all blurred after that.

Am really impressed that people are a lot older than I guessed on here.
I thought I was a wee bit older for remembering Sammy Irvine as a kid yet some saw us lose to Royal Engineers and England beating Prussia and Siam
