They are absolutely garbage. Even McGinn looks half the player he was now. Merson summed them up perfectly a few weeks back, they look like a school team who are all crap but have one boy who’s head and shoulders above the rest. Possibly because he broke his ankle in about October and was out for 6 months ? Just a thought I know and he hasn’t come back very strongly.

I don't agree with players celebrating staying up but I guess the relief of doing it right up until the last minute of the season after looking dead and buried must feel like quite an achievement. I get it that they got themselves there in the first place but not champagne worthy....Prosecco or M & S sparkling wine maybe, Cherry B for the ladies.

Right then my take on this is the celebrations were a bit ott but I can understand the relief, let's face it everyone including me had The Villa gone after 0-4 v Leicester just before lockdown,as for the spending most said "doing a Fulham" but we didn't,due to loans and released players we needed min of 10 in to bolster the squad and it was done with an average of under 10 million per player not too excessive for the premier League but so nearly cost us dear, add to that key players injured, Wesley, Heaton and Mcginn and we were an accident waiting to happen,so all in all from 5th in the championship to premier League survival is progress, what happens now is possibly the most important close season in The Villa's recent history, onwards and upwards

On that, was Benteke the last striker you signed who was a success? I can't think of any recent ones who've done it for you (Abraham on loan excluding)

He was improving from what I saw before his injury but Staffs would obviously know better as saw more of him. Seem to remember him getting the odd goal.

Is he really worth 80million or is that his nationality adding the extra 50-60% as always with English players.

Not the you care but the media don't half go over the top sometimes. Thought your team looked pretty solid most of the game and don't know whether Grealish was nervous but it felt like an age before he got involved. He was bloody good when he did kick in though, I hope he stays with you even if it's just one much year to help you establish yourselves.

Grealish is superb and does;t get the credit he deserves compared to others.
I think it'll be interesting to see him elsewhere.
Smashing bit of business to get Eze in as well by the new Sporting Director.
