When did he play against us? He was Spurs captain the night Delap's throws and our bloody mindedness caused their keeper to burst into tears!π

I must admit that I thought he was a crock by that point. Ever wonder he doesn't like us. We really left an impression on him in just one game.

Interviewed in today's Sunday Times - Q: Least favourite ground? A: Stoke was horrible. It was like war every time and always freezing cold. Their fans are just so loud as well. πππ Then people called for going to the next level. Tippy tappy football. Look where that got us. Give me brutal blood and guts filled Nogger every day. The 70s was tippy tappy AND blood and guts ... and even louder!

Fuck off why would I? When I say I want everything I want it here. Calm down dear..... I was simply pointing out that if you want all that you alluded to the only place to get that right now is at Liverpool (sadly). I fear you will have a long wait to see such delights in the potteries.

Still don't like the guy, needs binning on Co commentary duties for sure. Sadly he is back on duty Italy v Turkey , the contents ok but his voice is so depressing and watching in mute mode misses the good bit crowd noise.

Still don't like the guy, needs binning on Co commentary duties for sure. I think what he says is generally very good. But his whining East Midlands accent makes me want to throttle him. Horrible accent. Iβve lived in the East Midlands for nearly forty years. You get used to it, the lazy vowels and the dialectical habit of using βwasβ instead of βwereβ (which Jermaine is guilty of all the time). When Lineker started working for the Beeb, his Leicester accent was much stronger than it is now. But the accent coaches have worked hard with him and no doubt theyβre working on JJ. But, personally, I am all for more regional accents on TV, even when itβs Garth Crookes with his strange London-Stokie hybrid noises.

Been watching the Euro 2020 pre shows on BBC I player with Linekar, shearer and Micah Richards. Richards actually asked Mancini not to play him when we played them roughly 2010. " Horrible, horrible, place,I hated every second".π

Yep- fancy playing great football and managing to break to top half 3 times for only the second time in our history.Crap looking back how we beat Man City,Man Utd,Chelsea etc scoring great goals JESUS...Can't argue with that. Would have Hughes style football anyway, See what you get with foreign players

Some of our football under Hughes was fast counter attacking etc. not tippy tappy, that was left to Arsenal

I take the point that others have touched on , that it's great TP and the players , made the Brit , a place that the likes of jenas, didn't enjoy going too .
It was great when mark Hughes signed the likes of arnautovic and shaquiri to give us a bit more quality in the final third alongside the steel of Walters Whelan Nzonzi Huth and co .It was like putting the cherry on top of the cake .
But when he didn't know how to replace the steel ,it was a disastrous and the whole cake fell apart .

It was a bad run of three months (a very bad run) that we had turned round before the end of the season. We were on the verge of establishing a legacy that would last for decades but some wanted to risk it all for a change that has steadily led to our current predicament. Had we chosen a different manager to Hughes it could have worked. Unfortunately he was able to tweak our attacking options but neglected the foundations and ethos that had supported us so well. Had we appointed someone like Big Sam or Hodgson it could well have been a better choice and we would still be terrifying half of the Prem.

That 3.1 was a cracker but it was a lone beacon in a sea of dire games for Stoke in the Premier League, it had really gone to shit. As has been demonstrated thoroughly and endlessly Hughes was fantastic for three seasons but should have been sacked at the end of the fourth Obviously it would have been dependant on who replaced him then but imho if the Ranieri rumours were true he would have been perfect for that group of players at that time, not Allardyce at that time. I'm still not convinced Rodgers or Benitez would have taken the job but all the same it shouldn't have been that difficult to attract a decent manager that summer...and we would still be there now. The best time to sack a manager is May.
