Interviewed in today's Sunday Times - Q: Least favourite ground?
A: Stoke was horrible. It was like war every time and always freezing cold. Their fans are just so loud as well.

Still don't like the guy, needs binning on Co commentary duties for sure. I think what he says is generally very good. But his whining East Midlands accent makes me want to throttle him. Horrible accent.

You'd think a footballer would like a loud stadium to play in. John Collins said that there was an almost sadistic pleasure to be had as the away side, from hearing a vociferous home crowd fall silent and knowing you were in some way personally responsible for it.๐

Itโs the most enjoyable football Iโve watched and the board made this omnishambles by not sacking Hughes at least 8 months sooner. They had the bollocks to sack TP at the right time but if they didnโt the same thing was on the cards. Thatโs the issue not the football.

Then people called for going to the next level. Tippy tappy football. Look where that got us. Give me brutal blood and guts filled Nogger every day. 3 consecutive 9th place finishes and the best football since the 70s down Stoke Subtle difference - the football under Hughes was decent and at times sublime thanks to a few sparkly bits he put on a decade of hard work and a TP core & foundation (that Hughes was never capable of building himself and/or rebuilding when the time came) However, it was a handful of games in comparison to the team of the 70's who performed sublime football consistently over a full season, were title contenders and heralded by most as the best football team of that particular period. No comparison.
