Tried unsuccessfully to find the original thread on the assault on Owen Jones last year because there was some debate there about whether he got twatted because of his sexuality and political beliefs or because he is, well, a twat. So, a new thread... Seems it was the former! Owen Jones: Man jailed for attacking journalist

Was the judge there then? How the fuck would he know why the odious little cunt was twatted?

Was the judge there then? How the fuck would he know why the odious little cunt was twatted? Perhaps he listened to the evidence. It's fairly rare for a judge to have been present at an incident that he is presiding over! I wish we could find the original thread, it will emphasise just how may homophobic and racist cock wands pollute this side of the board.

OJ: Homophobia is bad* and the right is riddled with it.
Stormzy: I'm quite homophobic. But I like Corbyn.
OJ: No probs comrade, welcome aboard 🌈
*clearly, homophobia is bad. That's not up for debate.

I've warmed to Owen Jones, a spiky fella and to the left of my centre ground position it's true, but he's mellowed (somewhat) and I like the way he takes the attack straight to his political opponents, it certainly knocks them out of their cosy confidence in their own position, he's pretty fearless in all fairness. I don't think I have seen anyone come off well in a 1:1 TV debate with him, folks are pretty much avoiding it these days it seems!

He typifies the bad part of the ‘left’. In what way? It's because he exposes the 'I'm not racist but...' and the 'I don't hate anyone but.. ' mob for exactly what they are!

In certain quarters the 'identity' politics might be considered to be a bit of a crisis of the left, but Jones has always focused on traditionally left concerns as far as I can tell - wages, jobs, working class interests. The Establishment, Chavs... In what way are they 'the bad part'?

He typifies the bad part of the ‘left’. In what way? The way he often chooses to engage people who disagree with him makes him. He thinks it’s because he’s on the left, it might be in some cases, but the sneering condescension that he frequently displays does him no favours at all. He’s also just not that bright.

Don't agree on either count tbh. The first count is subjective so fair enough. The second count isn’t even up for debate. This article displays how much of a grip he has on reality, which is not much at all. www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/may/04/russell-brand-endorsed-labour-tories-should-be-worried

Having just watched that video has only enforced my opinion of him He is a insignificant little odious pillock And is an example why millions of ordinary working people have deserted Labour Does that give someone the right to physically assault him NO

The Establishment, Chavs... In what way are they 'the bad part'? He’s fully engaged in the smearing and cancelling of anyone who holds dissenting views, ranging from feminists who protect the notion of biological sex, to Muslim women who have experienced some of the most malicious and misogynistic oppression you could imagine, and are now critical of the doctrines within Islam that enabled that oppression. Like many on the left he has completely abandoned principle in favour of ideology. He’s a disgrace. He exemplifies the reason I’m less and less inclined to identify as left-wing any more. *edit to say, in case it needs saying, his attack was appalling and I’m glad justice has been done for the attackers

Jailed for violently attacking someone on the basis of their sexuality? What’s the world coming to? Homophobic attacks are nothing new, but it's fair to say that the haters (of all things which don't meet their expectations of what should be allowed) are probably feeling emboldened in the current climate. It's no doubt the fault of liberalism or the left! (tongue in cheek )
