The Championship is undeniably an exciting league and the writers comment reflecting that this is how football should be is a good one. It's a pity the champs doesn't get more media coverage, i watched the Quest programme thanks to a link on her and it was much more enjoyable than MOD. Having thought Colin Murray was a bit of a lightweight presenter, he impressed me. It's a pity the BBC are so obsessed with the 'Big 6' Prem clubs, and give the Championship more airtime. I tuned into BBC 5 on weds hoping for a Championship focused programme instead I got an almost meaningless L'pool v Chelsea commentary with updates from the champs...I do waht I often do to radio 5....listen for 5 minutes and turn off, it's a dreadful radio station.

That's a decent article. Thanks for the link. It's true that Gregory's goal was the catalyst for a lot of the drama. The day after Arsenal's last game 6 of the top 7 football news items on the BBC were about Arsenal. Why make 6 different items for one club who have had an average season anyway!!! Its not just the BBC though, it permeates throughout most mainstream media. I really like the Quest programme (free online btw) and Murphy. The thing about Murphy is he is genuinely engaged in the subject, passionate about lower league football and does his homework. The Championship this week has been amazing drama and its a shame that was not given more coverage. "This is what football used to be like, perhaps what football ought to be like. Granted, the play-off rigmarole adds extra drama to the conclusion of Championship seasons, a bit like building a crisis into a constitution, as someone once said, but those who watch only Premier League football tend to forget there can be a lot of life in a league that is not divided between the haves and have-nots."

Good points made here Clem is his name ? Has an absolute superb knowledge of the EFL and is rarely used . The other side of the coin, how many of us gave two hoots when we were in The Prem ?

Also, given the BBC is a nationwide public service, it's a bugbear of mine that their web coverage of football is completely hierarchical and presumes an interest in the Premier League. You have to request to be taken further down the football league in the darkest recesses of the Championship.

It’s quite possible that they have so many articles for bigger clubs because they are bigger. Ie, no one really cares about Stoke and unless the article is slamming us, the average reader will not open it to be exposed to the adverts that pay for the site.

I'm sure many BBC local radio stations maintain their listening levels because of this. If the Sentinel didn't cover football I'm sure it'd die off quickly. Agree with you that the BBC's obsession with the elite teams is utterly boring at national level.

They haven't the money to compete with Sky for live Premier League games so Saturday and Sunday highlights packages are their best option. But I've never really understood why they don't make an effort to become the regular broadcaster for the Championship. The rights to live Championship games could be got for a fraction of what it costs for the Premier League and, as has been pointed out many times, the Championship is a hugely more competitive league than the Prem - as illustrated by the final day on Wednesday, when all bar 1 of the 12 games had something "resting" on the result. Properly presented and marketed, I'm sure live games in the Championship would become regular viewing for many. If the BBC won't grasp the nettle, I hope one of the other channels will.
