I do like quite a few other clubs, but I'm fanatical about only one club... Stoke. But I can understand BM's empathy with Brizzle R. It's all about affinity and circumstances that can get you involved with another club. As I've said in another thread, for reasons I went into, my second club is The Baggies. Even so, if we're playing each other then I always want Stoke to win.

Pete Bloor is from a generation that would comfortably and quite normally follow Stoke and Crewe. This hating Crewe thing has only developed in the last 25 years or so. If you are under 30 then that's all your supporting time. Don't get me wrong the bile has generally come from the Cheshire end and I find it unacceptable how that clubs has utterly failed to deal with the child abuse scandal. Yep, my dad openly has quite an affinity for Crewe. Not so much of one that he'd stop supporting Stoke though haha! Incidentally, I changed the club I support - I used to support Man United. I think it's OK if you change when you're 11 though. I actually loathe United now and take great pleasure in their continued mediocrity.

A 'second club' in it's literal sense is bullshit, but there are definitely clubs which I will keep my eye on and want to do well. Stoke are the only ones that I truly care about though, if a club I quite like loses I don't really give a toss. Stoke I care about to the extent that they have probably impacted my mental health in the last few years . The other thing is I'm stuck with Stoke for life, whereas say a couple years ago I really wanted Spurs to do well because I enjoyed them under Poch but now under Mourinho I wish them all the ill will possible. Right now I'm half in love with Atalanta, a brilliantly entertaining side. Atalanta are brilliant. I went to watch them play Man City this season. 22.50. Really is worth going if you want to watch some Champions League football. Anyway, Atalanta lost 5-1 but they were so much better than Man City.

There’s plenty of 40 somethings on here (including me) who watched Stoke and went to the Vale, in the days when there was literally no rivalry. As for me now, I go Burton Albion games as well as Stoke. I was getting locked out of the stadium as a non season ticket holder, so I ended up a Stoke City Orphan at the Pirelli stadium. Being In the Royal Navy sometimes meant I saw more of Plymouth or Yeovil than I did Stoke as well. Now the plastics and the tourists have gone I can fill my boots again 😁.

I know a few good Stokies who did the Vale thing too, but eventually stopped going stoke as they got a ribbing later on for it. Shame they let it get to them.

Ditching Stoke for another Club? I can vaguely remember a poster on the old Rivals board doing that by deciding to support Cardiff City

Ditched Stoke years ago to follow Crewe. Why? You can’t just leave it at that. We need details. As Skip said above it’s the least expected reply ever.

Just how the fuck can anybody start following another club?......if Stoke finished tomorrow I just couldn’t start following anybody else If you split up with your wife you could find somebody else to love but you’ll never come to love another football club That’s my take anyway 😊 We both know a certain person, who shall remain nameless, who used to travel home and away with me for years, through good and bad times. He now follows Chelsea, I believe he's even got a season ticket For the life of me I can't understand why. I'd love to ask him but as you know he won't show his face now, I suspect because he knows the reception he'll get if he does. Unbelievable Jeff! I know who you're referring to. I know where he goes for a pint and have meant to find him and say hello. But I fear we'd end up arguing.

Aside from my local Irish league side, I would support Man Utd in England.
I do have a habit of following ex Northern Irish players careers and especially ex Irish league players.
I must say though I've been very gripped on following Stoke since Michael came in and have certainly adopted them as a second club, regularly reading the forums and watching games when I can.
I guess you could say I'm a bit like the Biesla fans which now follow Leeds. I feel though that even if Michael was to leave, I'd still have an affinity with Stoke and continue to watch them. I feel I'm on a journey at the minute and excited to see if we can challenge for the play offs next season.

You are very welcome on our journey mate and we need supporters much more than the likes of Manchester do who can obviously count on millions of glory hunters to keep them in their monopolyland at the top. Takes more character to support us rather than them though! BM

You remind me of Dr Hesham from Egypt who started following us because Ramadan Sobhi signed for us. When Sobhi left he carried on following us and still posts on here. It's all good, my second team's Grimsby Town because a lot of my family live there now.
