Starting 7 weeks Saturday So many shite teams, many of them finishing above us. Surely we can expect a top 8 finish at least. Here are the runners and riders Prem Descenders (3) - even if they are not good, they will surely be monied and expected to be thereabouts (remember that) Bournemouth/Villa (I think they'll stay up tho)/Watford might Bournemouth struggle? Norwich - seemed so bad this year could drop like a stone? Always one team that is a let down... Pipped in the Play Offs (3) - I'm assuming Fulham make it. Brentford/Cardiff/Swansea - we've beaten all of them, not seen anything major to fear, but of course they have the ability to beat us too. Sleeping giants (5) Derby/Forest would all expect to do better this year. Have they got money? Sheff Wed are drifting though, Could Boro revive? is Warnock not staying? Brum stuffed? Middle ranking (7) - Millwall, Preston, Blackburn, Bristol C, QPR, Reading, Hudd. We should be able to push on past this group. Minnows (2) - Luton, Barnsley Up and coming (3) Cov, Roth and Wyc. Not likely to push for promotion. That just leaves us. Slugging it out with 2 relegateds, two play off flops, two sleeping giants, two middle rankers, one surprise packet. Like I said, top 10 (did I say 8?) here we come

Losing Wigan for Barnsley is good and if 2 from brum weds and derby go instead of Charlton and hull even better unlikely I know but we would never get a better chance of going up coymp

I'm not saying we'll win the league, but we'll definitely be in the top one of this tinpot league.

Top 2 will be between Norwich, Fulham/Brentford and The Mighty Potters.
The rest are dross.
I'll be wiring into the Forest bottom half finish market if it's available, even more so if they keep Lamouchi.

That have lost their last 10 games only scoring two goals....that is likely to be 11 after Man City. Their last win was in February. That is some rut to get out of. They'll lose players too I think.

Think Norwich will do well. Bournemouth and Watford mid table. Brentford, Derby, will be up there. But Stoke will romp it😏

I think Norwich will be ok - they've resigned to going back to the Championship with more less the same side that did well last time. Villa spent big and could easily end up in financial trouble with players who don't want to be there. Bournemouth's bubble has burst and Howe will be off like a shot and Watford are a basket case waiting to happen.
I think it's between Fulham and Brentford to go up and either will be up there next season - and Swansea coming from nowhere might just pull off a surprise.
Forest are a funny one. They actually looked like a decent football team yesterday and I thought us going 1 up was against the run of play. A lot will be down to the manager picking them up and retaining their best players.
Bristol City have got a steady manager in Hughton and might do ok and there is always a left field team that comes from nowhere. I'll go Preston next year but it could be one of about ten clubs.
So Norwich, Brentford/Fulham, Forest, Bristol and Preston.
As for Stoke - I'm going for broke and say we'll make the playoffs and could will get automatic promotion. If you want to know how a team is going to start a season look at how they preformed at the end of the last - and with a truncated preseason this may be a bigger factor than usual. For the first time in about 4 seasons we actually look like a decent team and O'Neill is clearly got an eye on promotion - he's not here to tread water.
Can't wait...

I just think their squad is a championship squad. They never invested to make a go of it in the premier league. As you say, it depends on who they keep hold of. Pukki won't have a season like he did last time in the championship. I'm confident of that.

The three that come down. Fulham/Brentford, whichever one doesn’t go up. As an outside bet I’d go for Blackburn, lots to like about them.
We’ll be lucky to sneak into the top 6 but feel we could finish top half. The problem is our squad is far too big and MON will have to chip away at that for two seasons looking at when our contracts end.
It may sound defeatist but I think our best bet is to develop players and sell them on till the deadwood has floated away.

Teams I think will be up there will be Stoke, Cardiff (if not promoted), Millwall, Fulham (if not promoted), Norwich, Aston Villa (if relegated), Bristol City, Nottingham Forest.
Promoted - Stoke, Norwich, Villa or Millwall
Relegated - Birmingham, Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe.
If Brentford don't go up I can see their best players being taken away from them so will struggle.
Coventry may well struggle as their best player was Liam Walsh who was on loan from Bristol City, he could be as good as a new signing for them if he kicks on from last season.
If Bournemouth get relegated they could lose a few players and struggle as will Watford whose players will be sick of having their careers pissed about with due to constant changes in managers. I don't see how the constant changes there help young players grow.

Seven weeks. Enough time for ..... McLean to practice kicking with his right foot; Shawcross, Verlinden and Allen to be 100% fit again; MON to assess and/or promote the youngsters/reserves; OKey-Booth to watch videos of how Matheus Pereira plays; Tyrell to beef up a bit more; Clucas? if this headless chook gets a bigger brain, he would be a superstar; N'goy? (come out, wherever you are).

Norwich in for a struggle for me. Huge relegation hangover. They’ve been woeful, I’m having them to finish bottom half next year
A lot depends on finance but I imagine we’ll be right up there
Let’s wait to see who goes up/comes down

The pressure is on because we have to get promoted to avoid significant FFP penalties.
