Was made captain today, clearly manager doesn't see him as a bad apple?.

Giving him the armband seemed to get a reaction from him. Thought he was involved throughout and put in one of his better performances of the season.

A lot of older Stokies may see a touch of Peter Dobing in Clucas.he is a GAME watcher, not a ball watcher. He see's space to move into to receive the ball, and is capable of attacking with the ball, or finding an unmarked man. He's deceptive, like Dobing was, and hard to push off the ball.I'm happy to see him as captain as wouldn't turn my nose up at McLean. With McLean, there'd be plenty of action or plenty of bollockings.

He seemed a bit off the pace and out of touch since the return from the lock down, but today he really seemed up for it. Making him captain obliges him to keep focussed and not take "rests breaks".

His finish was fantastic considering it was with his weaker foot and showed great composure as well. Something McLean lacked with his chance in the first half where he just twatted it as hard as he could.

Not convinced there are any bad apples (not including some of the players out on loan), however am convinced there are a whole bunch of weak players.

There was a moment in the first half where Birmingham moved the ball across the pitch from our right to the left side. This meant that there full back had pushed up and had a bit of space ahead of him. For the first time this season I saw our players communicating with each other - Clucas pointed to McLean to push up and press which he quickly did. Doesn't seem like much but was evident to see his leadership quality in that moment.
Great finish. A lot of the good stuff in the first half involved him.

Puts a shift in pretty much every week, always gets stuck in and knows where the net is. Easily the player of the season.
There have been 2 maybe 3 occasions where he's been really really shit and uninterested, seemingly without reason, that have tarnished his very good season in a god awful side. A little bit strange as I don't know where the poor performances have come from but he's certainly one of the few who can hold his head reasonably high. Delighted if he's here next season and tailor made for the left side of the midfield 3 with the added bonus of being able to cover other positions well. Steady set piece delivery as well.

Saw far more communication today with clucas as captain, great appointment and this may just give him the confidence in his game.
He is a match winner and scores good goals , hoping he keeps his new role and it helps him to sit and drive that midfield forward.
Never understood why butland was given the armband given how crap his communication is to his back 4 never mind the rest of the team

Cracking goal and exactly what McClean needed to do with his chance.
I like Clucas but he needs that defined position. He can go missing but 11 goals from central midfield is a great effort. POTS by a mile.
