Davies was so assured. Everyone looked so much more comfortable with him between the sticks. Really begs the question as to what on Earth has been going on. Though he didn’t need to make many saves he looked far more confident and it fed through to the defenders. Keep him in. His kicking was better than Butlands. H

I think a few getting a bit carried away by Davies, one shot to deal with and not exactly a great one. Don't get me wrong he can only deal with what was thrown at him but was as comfortable an afternoon as any keeper would possibly have. R2D2 would have kept a clean sheet today but nice to see.

Much better in all departments. Davies should keep his place ? Vokes and Campbell linked well, Clucas took his captaincy seriously, and everyone looked comfortable on the ball. Let’s hope we actually just go for it at Bristol City. Yes, I don’t think one of them had a poor game.

That drink break helped us, felt them creeping back in it for 5 mins before that.
Far from safe yet.

H He didn't have to kick under pressure or deal with a back pass with one touch all game. His 2 kicks out of hand second half were terrible. His kicking off the floor much better. He wasn't fouled when he dropped the corner and he spilt an easy one early 2nd half. He was calm and he communicated well. He had absolutely nothing of any note to do though.

superb win when the pressure was really on after the leeds performance I think we are safe now. Davies looked assured in goal and if MON can get a few good signings in during the close season we should be challenging at the other end of the table next year .coymp

Ah a Stoke win really puts you in a good mood doesn't it. Hopefully now our survival is somewhat sealed and we can all look forward to bigger and better things next season in this league. It's the hope that ruins us though isn't it?

Agree about drinks break coming at right time but given all the teams at the bottom that have to play each other and Wigan’s -12 it would be really far fetched for us to go down now even if we lose the rest. One point from 3 games will seal it for sure. BM

We are safer than we were two hours ago, but that’s all. I agree with those who are saying that one big difference was having Davies in goal instead of Butland. Hopefully Jack’s “neck injury” will not heal any time soon.

Spilt the most dangerous cross and helped by a generous decision . You can't judge on what we saw today.

Well done today lads Brum never really looked a threat. Powell ran it today when he was on and defence looked more assured today with Davies. Although he didnt have alot to do but what he did have to do he did well enough.

Arguing with the Birmingham fans I know about who is the worse side. They reckon they are. I'm confident it's us. Birmingham are the worst side, official.

He had a couple of catches in the area that had it of been butland in goal I would have closed my eyes and hope for the best. Davies is a good league 1 keeper who hopefully will be ready next season. If butland doesn't go next season I fear the worst for us, he really doesn't want to be here and it shows...

I think it’s been realized that our defenders are not footballers that’s why almost every goal kick was a full clearance, I don’t remember us playing the ball out, not saying it’s wrong but a change in tactics to suit what we can and can’t do is a step forward. great 3 points though .

MON realised without Allen we lack a midfielder to pick the ball up deep, Cousins and Thomson don’t fit the bill and Powell would be wasted. So last 2 home games he has gone 4-1-2-3 and long ball with one of Campbell and McClean close to Vokes. It has worked well as all our middle three are in their best positions and we don’t ask Batth to play football. Vokes has done okay in this system

We are pretty close to being safe,
For us to go down, even if we lose our last 3 games, the following have to happen (Assuming no drastic GD changes, out of line with regular wins and losses):
1. Birmingham to pick up a point from their last 3 games. (Bad as they are this should happen, but not guaranteed)
2. Middlesborough, Huddersfield and Charlton all pick up 3 points from last 3 games. (Probable, but not certain, especially as Charlton's best chances are against Wigan and Birmingham which help us, while their last game is at Elland Road)
Assuming 1 and 2 all happen, then 2 of the following need to happen as well:
1. Barnsley to take 7 points off Leeds, Forest, and Brentford. (Snowball's chance)
2. Wigan to take 7 points off Hull, Fulham, and Charlton (Possible, but damages Hull)
3. Hull to take 5 points off Wigan, Luton, and Cardiff (Possible, but makes it harder for Wigan, Luton, or both)
4. Luton to take 6 points from QPR, Hull, and Blackburn (very possible, but damages Hull)
If we take a point from our last 3 games, it gets even easier to stay up.
I expect us to be safe by Thursday, or at the worst by next Saturday.

In general the way he commanded his box and came off his line was a huge improvement over Butland though. Sorry but he took two easy balls and made a hash of a corner was it ? like I said can only deal what is thrown at you which in his case was very little absolutely nothing to say he was an improvement apart from seeing things that weren't there. I doubt many keepers will have quieter debuts.

I doubt many keepers will have quieter debuts. He generally looked in charge of his area and confident in himself. Some keepers make you feel nervous by their demeanour, as Jack has for some time, and some don’t. The defence seemed less jittery in front of him today and hopefully he will do well for us. He had a great last season at Barnsley and was made Captain, and maybe he can solve one of our problems, after waiting a long time, for some strange reason, for a chance.

I don't think this team are fit enough to play at the same intensity for 90 minutes. It's a common feature of our post-lockdown games. This isn't just about fitness mate, this is tactical. The co-commentator has JUST said that it has been tactical also. It looks like it's going to work but it's a dangerous game to play from the first minute of the second half. Oh yes, he was definitely moving us into an increasingly defensive shape, I think with three at the back by the end of the game, but I think it's partly a result of our fitness problems. There was a definite drop off in the second half, and we posed an attacking threat again once some fresh legs were introduced.
