Name a person that would score about 10 goals this season and would have seen us stay up with it? Mame Diouf Name a player woefully used by consecutive Stoke managers? Mame Diouf Name a player who should show absolutely no loyalty to this club whatsoever but does? Mame Diouf Name a player that couldn’t hit a barn door ? Mame diouf See the stats above. The bloke scores goals.

I posted a couple of weeks ago that I couldn’t see how Diouf’s pace, experience and 100% commitment was not being utilised - mind boggling! Because he’s shit at football, despite his best efforts Christ alive, what about the other players that have got us to this point. They are all better than diouf??

Diouf is wank and we would be no better off if he had played more this season. His stats were from a long time ago when he was younger and hungry and being supplied by better players. He has lost a yard of pace and the last time he played his attitude looked suspect too.
His control and decision making last night was as wank as its always been - like a dog with a balloon. One decent cross and a lot of running around with his tongue hanging out doesnt change that.

Problem is apart from Campbell, competition for his place is a player who plays for 55 minutes and makes one pass and is not interested in the slighest. Another problem is he has more desire for the team than another 20 squad players if not more. I don't think people on here think he is amazing just better than what we have (which isn't hard I know).

He really isn't though, and he proves it with every cameo he makes Like it or not, our starting XI v Barnsley is our best team (with the exception of injuries - Allen, Shawcross) and formation. It may or may not save us but thats the reason we are in the shit in the first place...

He is poor at everything else , but so are vokes and Gregory

In fact he is the only option off the bench.

Poor control, finishing could be wayward
Always played his heart out. Hughes ruined him, turning a useful Premier League standard goalscorer into one who just couldn't any more
The best players can play anywhere, good 'technical' players can play in several positions to a good standard. Mame simply didn't have the technique but he played far too many games wide right,RWB and even right back By the time he got used up top (by Lambert) it had been so long that his goal scoring prowess had gone (that miss v Burnley) However because if his hard running and his superb attitude he was used where he shouldn't be. Having said all that when he filled in v Chelsea at right back in the League Cup was one of the best out of position performances ever.
If he'd been played up top with Crouch more often he would have scored enough.

Good luck Mame. A really good servant who got the shitty end of the stick in the last 3 seasons and played through personal tragedies often out of position.
Will get a good reception from me if ever he comes back to the Bet365......

With hindsight, Hughes' handling of Diouf was the first sign of cracks appearing in Hughes' management skills.
He spent forever trying to sign him, then seemed to lose interest in using him properly very quickly.
We all know Diouf's limitations, but aside from Steino, I can't remember another player more adept at being in the right place at the right time. He was a more than adequate fill-in player at right back too.
Good luck Mame. It was a blast.

His goal vs Wigan is what he's about. Puts himself about and always in the right place.

Great servant, never complained, got on with giving 100% even when being asked to play wing back. If we had more like you we may not be in the situation we have been in. All the very best.
