Yeah let’s rest players with 5 games to go, seriously!!!....what happens if we lose to Birmingham also? Mark Hughes tried that one at Chelsea a few years ago to target the Newcastle game and have a guess what happened It would be madness There were times in my youth when I played at a good level four times in a weekend so don't preach to me about players needing resting. My post is concerned with what MON will do this week! I understand that, but surely it is a case of everyone is different. McClean could clearly play every day, while Campbell was clearly knackered after an hour. I don't know how long it is before Campbell is ready to go again, maybe after a day's rest, maybe he needs a week? You did say "in my youth", many of our players are late 20s and early 30s, surely that makes a difference. Hopefully the club uses modern scientific ways of measuring whether a player is fit enough to play a game, but even that does not tell them whether they are mentally prepared, and keen for the contest.

I am not writing about what I think is the right thing to do. I am specifically alluding to what I think MON might do and that is totally different! Have you not any concepts gained from the playing history of Tyrese to realise this player cannot play at his best for ninety minutes. He is quick athletic footballer who is very prone to hamstring problems. We really need him in all five games because otherwise we have no attacking pace. Playing in every game in the present circumstances could see him miss the remainder of the season. I put my trust in MON and I am sure he will make the difficult decisions.

Same side. Stick with the winning team.
Hope to surprise them & / or nick a draw.
Fingers and all other digits crossed.

As my best 2 friends are Leeds fans - winning this one would make up for an entire season of constant piss-taking. We would be almost safe from the drop and Leeds, if Brentford win, would be on the brink of dropping out of the auto promotion zone and choking again. Sadly, it would be one of the happiest days I will have had for a long while as a Stoke supporter That said they are a high pressing, slick moving little passing side - just about everything we can't cope with - and we were lucky to only lose 3-0 at the Brit Defeat plunges us back into the shite while getting them one step closer to promotion and will make my life unbearable, losing while getting spanked just doesn't bear thinking about How often do Stoke come up trumps when you need them to? The answer is never, but come on Stoke do eeet for me - just for once and I will forgive you 50 years of misery

Leeds play a 4-1-4-1 formation with Phillips as the holding midfielder, the biggest danger for me is our full backs getting exposed one on one to Harrison and Alioski.....

I don't want MON to "throw" the points at Leeds, nor do I want to reduce our prospects of beating Birmingham which I see as a likely "6 pointer, must win".
I suggest he puts out a containment team for the first half, then 3 subs at half-time to try and hit them in the second half. Just dreaming!

A draw would be a pleasant result. I agree Joseph. But a slim defeat would not send me spiralling into an abyss of despondency. We need to be competitive and not let Leeds thump us. Then onto Brum and we'll see what happens. OS.

A narrow defeat is still a defeat mate and then with only 4 games left anything but a win v Birmingham would be a potential disaster and leave us staring down the barrel

Oh how glorious even a draw would be.
Defeat would, however, not be the worst thing in the world. I think we have enough about us under MON to avoid the drop regardless of the result at Bellend Road. And if it helps Leeds to get promotion, all well and good.
Wait ... what ... I want them to be promoted? Yes ! For one it gets the horrible club out of (what will still hopefully be) our division. For two, the tears of joy of their horrible fans will soon turn to tears of despair when they're hammered 4-0 every week in the Premier League and are relegated again, not to return for at least another 17 years.

I work with a load of Leeds fans who are absolutely sound it has to be said, all regulars and all knowledgeable about the game.
I for one am looking forward to seeing Bielsa in the Premier League and Leeds getting promoted, and hope they win 4 games and draw against us to do so....

In reality, it's one I'd have no faith in us filfilling.
Have we ever managed it successfully with the current personnel ?
I'd be for giving them something to think about at the back (playing our same front x4 - and, of course, praying for none of the half expected Horlicks's amongst our back 4) and see what happens.
Opinions eh?

I hate the Revie Leeds and everything Clough said about them is true. Fortunately, dominant as they were for a long time with their lack of sportsmanship and synical play and taking the xxxx out of opponents when a match was won, they didn't actually win very much. I live in North Yorkshire and meet many Leeds followers including family. Generally they are alright and have been given a large dose of humble pie in the last couple of decades. Half of them still expect their team to "blow it" before the season ends. Let's hope Stoke can set them on that path. The teams just below them are going like a train, so if they slip up they could easily drop into the play-offs, then the pressure on Bielsa and the team will be massive.

Opinions eh? I think maybe you a right and I am guilty of making the same mistake MON has made at times of "over-thinking" the team selection and ending up with egg on face. MON's best results have come when he simply plays the best available players in their best positions and let them get on with it.

Tha said, it's the 'let them get in with it' bit that worroes me specifically about our back four & Jack at the moment.
All too often, when they have, it's not ended well - and that, seemingly, no matter what combo we put out at the back.
In fact, I'd really struggle to name the best line up there if I'm honest.

Luton v barnsley will.mean only one potentially gets closer to us, we need to go positively, leeds will have large amounts of possession but are susceptible to the odd mad moment. We have to management our game well and who knows

I have to say all the ones I mix with or who live round and about me are of the same opinion. Many are terrified of messing up straight promotion again and they don't even seem to be looking forward to playing us - one described Stoke to me along the lines of "a team that exists only to f**k things up for everyone else" - I suppose that's the nearest I might get to a compliment off a Leeds supporter. That said, the players will surely be more confident than their supporters, and I'd be very happy with a draw.

I'd take anything other than a thumping I think you have to take into account that it's not an unlikely outcome. It may not be the end of the world, and maybe shouldn't even bother us, if we have "acquited" (one of the manager's buzzwords) ourselves well. I think all 11 players should, in varying degrees obviously, be considered part of our defence. It may not be Vokes' favourite thing but he has to keep pressing those sweet ball passers at the back, who knows, one of them might make a mistake that he can exploit. But if we go behind early should we do a Barnsley, i.e yield to superior opposition, or should we come roaring back at them? I hope it's the latter, and we have to bear in mind, that a lot of their boys are relatively inexperienced, they are bound to be nervous after what happened last year; some funny results have happened of late, and one is possible on Thursday. Bielsa said in his Sentinel interview that the main worry for them is distractions, well, we have to keep them distracted for 90 plus minutes. All the time.

I’d approach this game hoping for a single point/draw. That Jack Harrison will be the one to watch. Go for some points after this game. A capitulation could severely damage our superior goal difference.

Stuff this narrow defeat nonsense. If Nathan Jones can go there and draw in the League Cup, and can take his Luton side and get a draw in the league then why can't we go and sneak a win, or get a draw ourselves?
Wigan went there last season in a similar position to us and won with ten men.
It's Leeds not effing Real Madrid.
