How is goal difference handled if they finished third bottom on equal points? It is a points deduction so their goal difference is unaffected.

there is a real danger they dont fulfill fixtures, no income from gates means no money stream to the club, the only chance they have is that Dave Whelan "lends" the money for players wages etc or we have a bury/bolton situation, maybe the effort shown last nigh was last chance in the shop window for them....

For those unaware how it works in regards points deduction It all waits until the end of the season....if they get relegated automatically it’s next season but if they don’t they’ll come off this seasons That’s because Leeds abused it the season we got promoted so they changed the rules Do they give some clubs lee way due to coronavirus

I hate the media when it comes to Football
A Championship club that won the FA Cup in recent times go into administration, what is the headline on BBC Football
"Liverpool, Man City Press Conferences Latest"
That is a Disgrace

I would still bet on them finishing above us. Anyway doesn't make any difference if we finish in the bottom 2.

Would they have gone into administration if covid never happened Apparently yes it seems To be fair that was their 3rd biggest crowd of the season last night Joking aside not nice to see with any club and Dave Whelan did an incredible job there. Never take your owners for granted.

Weren’t they took over not long ago? They were took over by a Hong Kong consortium about a month ago Couple of years back Whelan sold them and apparently been in financial difficulty for some time since then

Never take your owners for granted. Yes, for those slagging The Coates family for our current predicament here’s a paragraph from the BBC report for you to think about;- ‘ Until 2018, the club was owned by Dave Whelan, who steered them from the fourth tier of English football to the Premier League in 2005, while they also won the FA Cup in 2013. Whelan sold the club to Hong Kong-based International Entertainment Corporation in November 2018 and there was a further change of ownership in May when Next Leader Fund took control’The problem has arisen because the new owners didn’t put in the funding they promised. Faceless and remote owners the exact opposite of what Dave Whelan was and The Coates family are. BM

Dave Whelan will step in and provide assistance & they will get the points they need to stay up.
Luton will push us into the relegation zone.
It’s in the stars.
Happy Canada Day!

Very good question Fair dos to the Guardian its their leading Sports story. Well it was for 3 hours anyway...now leading Football story But they think it is a brexit story. No they don’t. They’re just reporting the reasons given to the HK stock exchange BY THE CONSORTIUM who bought the club from Whelan when they decided to offload it in May. One of those reasons along with others was that THE HONG KONG owners believed “Brexit could have material long-term impact on the economy and the future growth of the UK which may damage investors’ confidence in the UK and also reduce local consumer spending, which could further deteriorate the performance of the [club]” So the question is, why did they buy the club in the first place? If there’s uncertainty now re Brexit there was also the same when they bought it in 2018. It could be they see it different under this government than the last but more likely a combination of that and CV19, or it could just be it’s more suited to a new owner interested in plain old asset stripping if Wigan actually own valuable land or other assets? www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jul/01/wigan-go-into-administration-four-weeks-after-hong-kong-takeoverBM
