10 or 12 points guaranteed. This is the list of the most recent clubs that went into administration and what deductions they got:

Reckon players have known for a while? Look how well they’ve been doing, I think they could still stay up Then they would start next season on -12 points So the choice they face is start next season in L1 on 0 or start in the Champ on -12?

I can't laugh at this sorry situation and if it turned out to save us it is nothing really to crow about. Still scandalous from our perspective.
Sad to see . FA Cup winners 2013 and I can't ever recall them going totally stupid on big time Charlie's either

While I'll take any advantage I can get at the moment (as sad as it may be for some other club) I'd be more than a bit embarrassed if we stayed up at the expense of Wigan's point deduction, based on last night.
Hopefully we can somehow get our shit together (manager and players), get enough points and not even make it a talking point.
Also, hope Wigan get a good outcome from it all too. We're all football fans at the end of the day, and it's never nice to imagine your club being taken away from you, as much as they piss you off sometimes.

Does this explain the donation of 3 points by The Stoke City Benevolent Society last night?

If they don’t finish the season and all points are wiped that could seriously fuck us up as we beat them at home

How would this affect us? Doesn't the punishment start next season. These things seem to take an age to sort their way through, anyway. I can't see how a decision would be made before the end of this season. Is that right?

12 point deduction for going into administration. Very sad to this happening to clubs, could well be the first of many over the coming months. I think the league will take into account Covid situation and reduced income so probably a smaller points deduction

Worryingly (from our perspective) they've still got Barnsley, Hull and Charlton to play. If Wigan maintain their current form they could well still survive with a 12 pt deduction, but if that form drops off a cliff as a result of this, it could see teams around us pick up 3 points far more easily than they might have expected.

If Wigan do get a smaller points deduction, how many clubs will quickly take the opportunity while smaller punishments are available?

What a shame for an excellent manager and a hard working group of players.

Wigan could get a 50 point deduction there are still 2 other places to be filled Luton are 3 points behind and Barnsley 2 points they have picked up points recently we have got 1 from 9 and look a circus.

Better for them to be in the mix needing results than mentally on the beach though surely?

If all the teams in the Championship apart from us, started with point deductions, we would still struggle to stay up, we are that poor.
