I reckon our luck will change against the Miners of Barnsley and we’ll whip the feckers 6-0 with our ‘Arthur’s’ McClean and Vokes getting a hat trick each. “Nurse, nurse ! I need me tablets”

That’s it though I can’t think he can be in the frame as Tymon was above him......on balance given where we are I’d stick for tomorrow with Indi.
I just think it’s too big a game and we need the senior professionals to turn up. With no crowd there should be no blaming kids and if we go down it’s down to them and them alone.
Only exception I’d play Sorensen with Powell and Clucas.

I’ve gone round the loop on this but come out with Pej in the sentinel for such a crucial game.....
Butland £3m Smith £6m Shawcross Collins Indi £6m Sorensen Clucas £6m Powell Ince £10m Campbell McClean £6m
4232 it did work with Joe in so the only change I’ve gone for Sorensen to try with his youth to get up and down the pitch disrupting and getting the ball forward quickly.
Last throw of the dice but I’m sure this selection by MON could be determined by what has gone on since Tuesday night which none of us will know so wouldn’t crucify him if the team is totally different as he says he and his staff see what’s going on so I trust him on that point. He seems a very honest chap.
Everything crossed and like Conroy the last time i woke up in the night was our last relegation and that bothers me.

This lot couldn't work as a team to make a pot of tea, 0-2 if we're lucky. My positivity is gone. Do they even know each other's first names.

Not in a month of Sunday's or in the history of the Championship have we ever experienced the kind of results that have occurred to see Stoke City in the position they are in. Just prior to the lockdown Hull City, Huddersfield, Middlesboro and Barnsley didn't look like they would ever win another game. They need to be congratulated for what they have achieved as well as Wigan and Luton. It is pretty clear that the one thing they all possess as opposed to Stoke City is a collective team spirit and a collective desire to escape from the relegation trap door. MON, in my opinion has a mammoth task to save Stoke now but the reality is that it is still possible and we can still survive this nightmare. We cannot have a better opportunity than the start we have tomorrow with a game against Barnsley. We will know our fate by tomorrow night! A draw or a loss will not be good enough! What a perfect storm! Stoke losing and the pubs reopening! Nightmare!

Granted he's not the best but with anything resembling a competent partner, I think he'd be OK. He at least tries and covers the ground. Sadly, he was doing the job of 3 on Tuesday when in truth, he finds doing his own job enough of a challenge. He's one of very few in our squad that I don't actually mind.

My team would be;
Lucky Dip (put all the keepers in a hat, including Bursik and Blondie) and see which one is drawn out Edwards, Shawcross, Collins, Smith Clucas, Cousins Ince, Powell, McLean Campbell
Ince is a dodgy one I know and ideally, I'd not want him involved but I'm assuming that Diouf is at practically zero fitness levels having barely played a game for 2 years and following lockdown measures also. If Diouf is ready, I'd move Campbell to the right (as at Huddersfield) with Diouf up front.
If Edwards isn't ready to play or available for selection for whatever reason, I'd put Cousins at right back and bring Sorenson into midfield alongside Clucas.

Would it be wrong to describe tomorrows game as one of the most important in the entire history of the club? One of the most for sure People talking re spirit, we certainly showed it before lockdown and need it more than ever now. Hopefully dropping into the bottom 3 is the wake up we need, shouldn't need any motivating. We were poor v Boro but created enough chances, no excuses tomorrow.

Davies Collins Shawcross Chester Bauer Clucas Cousins Mclean Powell Campbell Vokes Some horrible names in there still but would suit us better All those names are horrible, but it's been proved that McClean can't defend. Moreover Bauer, who also can't defend, is registered for this still ongoing season with another club, who have since let him go, but as he's not registered with us, we can't play him. Clucas won't play for O'Neill, Cousins can't although he's a good clogger, Vokes can't score, and Chester can't defend, Shawcross can't stay fit, and Collins doesn't have the manager's trust to play in his natural position. Good choice for goalie, though. Davies hasn't dropped the ball out of his hands once this season and hasn't conceded a single goal in the league. Though that might be because up until now he hasn't played there.

MON can't afford to fuck about with formation again. We need to go back to what worked so well for us pre-lockdown. That was a 4-1-4-1, blending into 4-5-1 when we need to keep it tight.
One of my big calls would be dropping Shawcross and Chester, and reinstating Batth alongside Lindsay. For the simple reason that our drop in form has coincided with Ryan returning to the starting line-up, and Chester has been dreadful. Batth and Lindsay had been working to a reasonable standard till Chester arrived, so let's go back to that.
Thompson was pretty steady in that holding position against Cardiff, so give him another go there.
D: BMI, Lindsay, Batth, Smith CDM: Thompson M: McClean, Powell, Clucas, Campbell FWD: Vokes
Subs: Cousins (for Powell, as we switch to 4-2-3-1 if we are leading by at least 2 goals with no more than 20 mins left to play, and want reinforcing with 2x CDMs), Ince (for Vokes if he is doing his usual dump truck impression, putting him on the right and moving Ty up front), Shawcross (for Thompson, add some buffer in defence alongside Batth and Chester in the last 10 mins if required, going 5-4-1), Edwards (for Smith, again to support 5-4-1).

Could we really use the Celtic reject Bauer..wonder how his inclusion would affect the already shattered team morale.
Whatever lineup Mon goes for I hope he plays 2 up front.

Nightmare! The lock down could not have come at a worse time- it allowed those teams who were struggling to basically press the reset button and galvanize themselves for a final push over the last 9 games. Conversely we went into the lock down feeling fairly good about ourselves having had a pretty good run since MoN came in and confidence on the up. The problem being that it would appear that the squad thought that was it, we had done enough to stay up and would now waltz through the last 9 games easily enough to escape the trap door, so foot off the gas and no introspection during the lock down and certainly no motivation to train on their own to maintain peak fitness. Cue first game up, off the pace and devoid of fluency and lucky as hell to scrape a draw- confidence drained whatever MoN may have said about chances/possession because to me we were doing nothing with that possession at all in places that could hurt the opposition. On to the next game, confidence still dented and a realization no doubt that the squad is 3/4 weeks away from being competitive physically because of their collective lack of responsibility to train properly on their own in lock down and suddenly we are bullied off the park by Middlesborough just through shear determination on their part and better fitness. On to Wigan, confidence now at an all time low, players off the pace, players who are scared to take responsibility on the ball, players who are just shadowing the opposition and scared to put a tackle in- cue we lose 3-0 could have been more and made Wigan look like Barcelona. On the basis of the above and despite what anyone may say about there still being 6 games left, this is not something that can be turned around in a day or two or a few weeks. I'm afraid to say that we are royally screwed and I can see a scenario where we don't pick up another point all season. What does it all come down to- the players, 60-70% of them are prima donnas who won't take responsibility for their actions and have little to zero professional integrity in relation to maintaining the bare minimums for a professional footballer (dedication to the team concept, dedication to their own fitness and personal pride in their own performances regardless of how the rest of the team is playing). Before lock down like in a primary school MoN could be drilling the above into them day and night- work for one another, understand your role in the team, make sure they are training and staying fit- but they've come back as if they've been on an extended summer holiday. It is despicable and the only thing that cheers me up is that if we do down then it will be the final nail in the coffin for some of these so called stars- who in there right mind would go near Tom Ince now? With salary caps to be enforced he will be one of those going come get me, come get me and be greeted by a resounding wall of silence....

Just woken to my mate who’s a Barnsley fan
He is that confident that he thinks they will be safe in just over a weeks time (they play Luton and Barnsley after us)
He reckons they will comfortably beat Stoke (he predicts 2-0) and can’t wait for it 😞

It’s a toss up between Cousins and Thompson for crap signing of the season. These pair will struggle in the first division. Did we actually pay a fee for Thompson? Got to be better options in the under 23,s?
