I know you shouldn’t throw kids into a relegation scrap but he couldn’t be any worse

One of the worst midfield team performances of all time. Did Clucas touch the ball? Cousins and Thompson, bullied, lightweight and neither broke up any play. MON then sticks front players up top leaving them free to roam about. The players were all shit, MON has no idea who the best XI is and his selection and substitutions were just bizarre. He's been affected by the break as much as everyone else.

Honestly why not play kids?
We just played a team full of experience and we made Wigan look like Barcelona.

Oakley Booth was very good just before covid break when MON played him further up. He would bring us some creativity and would be able to unlock defences with his good dribbling skills and unpredictability.
Oakley Booth should definitely start vs Barsnley.... who else we have?

All it says to me is that he didn't sign the player and he was signed for him.

Given Powell's suspension for the game, I thought OB was nailed on to start in an advanced midfield position last night. I was gob smacked that not only did he not start but he never even got on in the second half. Against Hull he showed (when he moved to a more attacking role) that he has some pace and skill and is not afraid to take people on with some success - that was something that was sadly lacking in the team that we fielded.

Certainly give Oakley Boothe a game. He's not a teenager any more, neither is Dunwoody. I don't see any defensive midfielder better than him at the Club.

He's not a DM though. I'd play him with Cousins, Thompson and Clucas in a four with Campbell and Diouf up front, hoping he can keep us solid but add a touch or creativity. We don't need to lump balls up in the air to Mame or Tyrese. Let's add a bit of movement.

No idea why he didn’t come on last night.
Why does he keep using Gregory?
He just runs around fouling people or losing the ball.
I knew he’d be bad but fook me he’s so much worse than expected.

Which after the Hull game we won’t agree with because he was anonymous deep and made a real impact further forward. But it suggests that naturally it might be his best role?

Agreed - we don't have sufficient evidence to judge properly one way or another. Sadly we aren't going to find out if he is best in the defensive or attacking roles unless he gets some game time pretty sharpish.

I've seen footage of him for England, and what he did was pick the ball up deeper and run with it. He's not a tackler in midfield which we saw a bit of before he was pushed further forward. I think he's more of a central midfield with a penchant for drifting wide at times.

OB may not be a defensive midfielder but Dunwoody is, and has leadership potential also.

Derby seem to have dropped on a couple of young, good players coming through.
Oakley-Booth, with his pedigree, could be ours.

I know you shouldn’t throw kids into a relegation scrap but he couldn’t be any worse Every time I see a thread with immortal words "he couldn't be any worse" I despair. YES HE COULD. However...in this case we need to ditch 1 up front so if he partners Vokes or Campbell I'm in.
