Our last visit to Exeter must have been in 92-93 under Lou? Anyway, not totally unfeasible we’ll be playing one of these come next season so may as well get some early scouting in.

Such a shame to see two good solid clubs play a match at Wembley with no fans. What a day out both sets of fans would have had. Both clubs part of our history as well.
I remember going to see Stoke play Northampton Town away in the only season they were in Division 1, when it was a three sided ground shared with the County Cricket Club. It was an evening kick off, on a Wednesday in March 1966 I think, and Stoke lost 1-0. I think we only took one coach to so meaningless a fixture (for Stoke) and I was on it.

Been to Northampton a couple of time’s Brian Little’s 1st game a 3-1 win in the green shirts and 1-1 draw on a Sunday I think under Gudjon when they scored a late equaliser

Wasn't one of Northampton visits a rare appearance by a certain Oulare's arse?

Curle has got the Cobblers playing like a TP side but with less charm!
Very effective though.

Not really sure I see the point on playing this at Wembley, this could be held at Marston Road FFS.

Will they remember it forever? Absolutely. Yeah I can imagine Exeter players having to go to all that trouble of getting to N. London just to be dicked. Very memorable. Oh and to get an early bath as well.

Northampton were promoted three times in the five years 1960 to 1965. Starting the 1960–61 season in the Fourth Division, they reached the First Division in 1965–66, their only season ever in the top division of English football. They were then relegated back to the Fourth Division over the next five years, playing in the bottom tier again in 1969–70. Wikipedia.

Didn't Carlisle United do something similar?

That Morton looks handy for Northampton. Excellent. A beast holding it up, chases all day, got a decent touch and can finish. He would piss into our team.

Northampton it is. Well played, been by far the better team. Repeat of our first game in 98/99 on the cards? Think we won 3-0 or 3-1. We started that season like a train but finished it like a Kevin Wimmer jog.

Think he's on loan from West Brom so could well be that they see him for the future. Maybe we could loan him though if the Baggies go up and we go down?

On this, Northampton would bully the crap out of us. Their front two are a right handful, Morton is excellent, and Hoskins is a very bright player. Their set pieces would have Jack like jelly.

You have to feel sorry for Exeter here. 7 points above Northampton and 3 points from the top 3. That's tough.

Why wasn't the Northampton player sent off for elbow in the face in the build up to the Exeter sending off?

Yes I'm sure they would have definitely been thinking that at 9am this morning. Would have been no excitement whatsoever knowing they were going to get knobbed. Still at least he knew to pack his favourite smellies for when he got his red card. And in about 30 years none of them would have wanted to tell the grandkids about playing at Wembley in a play off final.
