When's the last time we beat the same side 3 times in one season? Can remember beating Walsall twice in the same cup competition that was weird. Macclesfield? Can't remember

Butland Smith Batth Collins Indi (out of desperation) Ince Cousins Clucas McClean Vokes Campbell This minus Jack for Adam Davies. I could go with that. Butland needs a fresh start somewhere for his own good.

3 assists. Runs around a lot but the other players don't know where he is.

Not the player he was, but a thoroughly professional attitude and does his job better than most of the rest of the squad. The only player we have with a value, apart from some of the young ones.

4-2-3-1 Butland Smith Collins Lindsay Tymon Clucas Thompson Ince Gregory McClean Campbell Any reason to not play gregory up top in a 2? I just prefer the 4-2-3-1 formation. It’s been our most suited formation since Hughes’ days and has been criminally underused by every manager since.

Any reason to not play gregory up top in a 2? He doesn't score goals! Regardless of whether you call it 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 in that formation Gregory would be the "support" striker, playing behind Campbell, linking the play etc.

Got a horrible feeling that he will start Vokes up top on his own tonight What a fun game to watch that would be.

Does anyone think that moving Indi to left centre back might help in any way? Perhaps with Ryan, as they have paired in the Premiership. It would mean someone else playing at left back but is Ward totally shot? Surely balance and experience at this critical juncture are key? Maybe I’m grasping at straws but it’s so disjointed at the back that reverting to the above may help!

How do you/me/him know that if he doesn't dive though? Everyone's pulled off a wonder save in goal before, bare minimum required is to try.

I’m hoping for Vokes up front, no Ince and no Thompson.
And I’m really hoping we put people in their correct positions.

Why does he stand there and do nothing for so many goals? If i was in goal I'd still dive for the ball even if I thought I wasnt going to get there... The outcome would be the same though..... I did occasionally go in goal when I was playing, mainly because I was then taller than several teammates and a realistic standby option. I know that I was told to always try to make a save, or at least to make an effort, as this improved the percentages and gave you a much better chance to stop a shot than you would have by standing still. This is a debateable point as if you stand in the middle of the goal the ball might still hit you, as long as you make yourself as large as possible. Watching Banks play I have seen him miss many, including some that perhaps he should have saved, but I never saw him seem to just stand still like Butland did on Saturday. Banks would always dive or jump, and he might on occasion even dive the wrong way, but he always defended his goal actively, rather than passively and indecisively like Butland.

I agree that it didn't look good, but it seemed to me that our useless defenders managed to block the goalkeeper's view but not the ball.

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion mate but I am sure we could sell Etebo, Afobe, Ndiaye, Collins, Clucas & Campbell all for more than we would get for Jack on current form.

Can’t help but feel we’re fucked if we lose tonight given the remaining fixtures and how poor we’ve been in the previous two. I’d drop many more from Saturday if I could but not possible given our terrible squad so tonight I’d go 4231 with:
Butland( I don’t rate him but who else have we got)
Smith Batth Collins BMI(see Butland)
Cousins Clucas
Tyrese, Ince, McClean Vokes
Tonight is must win but also must not lose, can see it being a tight, scrappy boring 0-0. Go on Stoke

As soon as an opponent gets within shooting range he seems so consumed with anger towards the defenders he’s not even thinking about saving the shot. I reckon one day in the not too distant future he will be shouting and throwing tantrums at the defence before the striker even shoots!

Both have already beaten us at home this season though. I agree about fixtures not guaranteeing anything which is why neutrals love the championship and I’d love to be wrong but have a bad feeling about the next few games. There’s too many, as Roy Keane would say, “bluffers” at this club and too many you wouldn’t trust to get us out of a dogfight. As I say I hope I’m wrong and regardless of what happens, come on Stoke!
