What will be will be I suppose. We are where we deserve to be after a disastrous season. On a positive note, I’m getting my first haircut in over 4 months tomorrow. It’ll be like shearing a sheep.

I will be venturing to the barbers next Saturday. Mother did mine a few times over lockdown. Trevor and Domingo have invited me to a special spa day with a few of their friends at the end of the month but it’s not my scene.

I'll probably just go for a buzz cut Colin, although it's so long at the moment I could get a pony tail. It would be like the 1980's all over again. I'd give the spa day a miss if I were you. I don't know if you saw that bit on telly the other day about the bodily fluids that are found in hot tubs, but it included faecal matter and urine. I think with Trevor and his mates you could add a few things that weren't mentioned as well.

I notice there's still no updates from The White Star In Stoke on their Facebook page. I walked past the Hop Inn on Albert Street in Castle earlier and they have a sign in their window saying that they're opening on July 20th.

Had a wander down Stoke today hoping to get a couple of pints in The Glebe. Sadly it was shut and there's still no sign of life at The White Star but I managed to grab a couple in Bru.
The lady serving was very pleasant, just asked for names and mobile numbers and to hand sanitize. The place wasn't busy but it was very relaxed and no problem at all.

Not yet mate, but Penkhull(ish) is looking favourite. Saw 2 houses in particular I fancied but they sold before I got to see them when the backstop backlog was cleared. Bit of a tightrope between waiting for price drops and missing out on the place, but that's nature of things atm. Working from home has taken some of the urgency out of the move, but still looking to move by Christmas.

Great selection of ales, IPAs, DIPAs etc on an ever changing roster and not stupidly expensive like some craft places can be either. It's owned by the same people that have The Cottage in Oakhill but it's a world apart from that place (granted, I've only ever been in The Cottage about twice but both times it was a bit like The Jockey off of Shameless - that was a good few years ago now mind).

My kind of place then. Have been in several pubs down that way at different times, and the experiences were mixed at best, so I'll call in here when I get the chance. Don't mind paying a premium for a decent pint/place/company, but glad to hear it isn't pricing itself out of the market completely. Was in the London Rd Alehouse before which is a nice spot, but very quiet the couple of times I was in. Was also on the Wellington along that way which was a decent, friendly local but the others I was in in the general area were pretty grim so will give Bru a try.

What's it like out there lads? Anyone braved one of Tim Martin's establishments? I don't really want to give that rodent any money, but I have a real hungering for microwaved hash browns Is it nicely distanced out and about?

A rather heyzeus-esque post if you don't me saying, mate 😊
I didn't think you did pubs anyway, saying as you did your Lord Lucan impression the day you were supposed to meet me after the match that time? Which, on reflection, is a blessing as I didn't fancy you lobbing your Y-fronts at me four pints in 😂

Mate, what are you on about? I never had any intention of meeting you, and you know it full well. I hope you enjoyed playing hide and seek on your own around Stoke though Anyway, I'll meet you in Stoke spoons now if you want.

I know you had no intention mate, I'd be shocked if you were within a 5 mile radius of Stoke that day. Anyway, get out of the pub. Agnes' garden isn't going to deweed itself and I don't think she'd appreciate you rocking up 'in the altogether' to clear her nettles 😎

Big queue outside of Weatherspoons in castle Friday, gangs fighting and police there in the gardens next to it. No social distancing whatsoever, no masks anywhere and it was only early evening. The social distancing was about 2cm, the pub should be shut down if it doesn't provide safety for its customers. The queue was about 100 people long all within about 10 metres.

I couldn't face a move to continental style policing, but it's infuriating that businesses will take the piss and the police are letting them do it in plain view.

They may have challenged them later about it but I think the police were more focused on a large group of young lads causing trouble with the odd ones getting violent. I didn't hang around long enough to see how it all panned out but it was mental. A lot of young people just think they're invincible, it was pretty disgusting they will learn the hard way I suppose.

No problems re social distancing where i've been, but then it feels like i've been practicing social distancing for most of my adult life.
Slighty more misanthropical version of this old boy: 😂

One of the few pubs I’ve been to since lockdown has been lifted was The Greyhound in Hartshill (I wouldn’t normally go there but live nearby). From what I could see they were the only pub doing things properly, card only, table service, Perspex screens, sanitiser, one way system, lowered capacity. It’s been closed because one of the staff has suspected Coronavirus. The other pubs I went in were free for all’s and I didn’t stay. I guess what I’m saying is, at the moment going to pubs isn’t the most sensible thing to do. Unfortunately🙄

Unfortunately🙄 Been for post lockdown pints in Manchester, Liverpool and various town in Northern Ireland and the experiences have been largely positive. But like you I've ended up in places that normally wouldn't be my first choice based on how seriously they're taking the virus and how well they've struck the balance between safety and enjoyment. From what I've seen and reports of an increase in cases in my home town today, further local lockdown are inevitable, and in some cases will be directly attributable to specific venues not following the regs.
