Wonder which ones will re-open in North Staffs from Day 1
Will you be partaking of a fortifying post-lockdown lager ?

My 40th birthday the day before so I’m getting cajoled into it but ideally I want to leave it a few weeks. It’s gonna be carnage!

To be honest I’m quite enjoying drinks in the garden now. Not sure it’s even worth going the pub until the nights draw in🤷🏻♂️ Can’t believe I’ve just said that. I’ve changed🤦🏻♂️

No football. No loud music (not that I'm too fussed with anything above background music). You can't mingle with people you know if you spot them in the pub but aren't in the same party. You can't gather at the bar and chat to strangers (one of the perks of micropubs/real ale joints). Queueing everywhere.
It'll be wank. I think it'll tick over for the first weekend as people will just want to get out and try it but then it'll die off. And people have gotten used to sitting at home with cheap alcohol.

I’ve changed🤦🏻♂️ I've stayed well clear of pubs for some time I've a circle of friends and family and we all enjoy a home drink. So for me they can keep um closed.

One of my "interests" is in Old English pubs, and I seek out and visit historical locations, haunted inns, associations with famous writers, sites of dramatic or political events and so on. As it is now so long since I indulged this hobby I have found other focuses of attention and feel in no rush to return to my studies. Think I'll be giving it a miss, at least for a few weeks.
Why did they pick American Independance day for reopening? Surely losing the Colonies is not otherwise a cause for celebration.

Maybe it is to allow us all to celebrate that no matter how bad things are here at least we don't have The Donald as President?

I wouldn't drink lager if someone bought it But in all seriousness I shall avoid pubs for a while yet The whole point to me for going down the pub was to meet up with a couple of mates for a natter And that will prove difficult Though I might use a little Portuguese cafe I know for a decent cup of coffee and Portuguese custard tart

Given the current unrest I'd be inclined to keep them closed. I know there will be social distancing etc but town centre pubs could still get thousands in, it's a recipe for large scale disorder.

I think the opposite will happen, people will realise the rules are a load of wank and will proceed to (rightly) completely ignore them. It'll be all back to normal before autumn, people have had enough and have stopped giving a shit.

I go to the pub most days about two o clock for a pint with my dog. Generally only about four or five blokes in and it’s good crack. I’ll def go as soon as it re opens but only as long as it’s just the normal few regulars Any crowding and I’ll walk the dog straight home I doubt I’ll be going on a Saturday night for a while yet

According to this fella, giving your name to get a pint is entirely voluntary. Whether or not you'd get served in that case remains to be seen.
I've been checking on the Facebook pages of the various pubs I frequent and not many have given details of when and how they're opening so far.
The Unicorn and Coachmakers in Hanley (ironically two of the smallest pubs in the city) have given updates, but there's none in Stoke that I'm aware of bar Wetherspoons.

I live in a smallish village in South Derbyshire which has 10 bars ! Most have reasonably big beer gardens but I expect carnage if the weather is like now. Everybody an his dog comes here so not sure how it's going to work with queuing, locals getting preference etc. If it's mad I've got the garden an won't have to pay 4 odd quid a pint lol.

Just had an email off Titanic - majority of their pubs are opening on the 4th, but table service only, names and details to be given and no wandering around the pub talking to random strangers. Love my local but that sounds a long way from any form of fun to me, so I'll be giving it a few weeks longer TBH, let the professional pissheads have their day first.
