I'm shocked. Truly shocked..... The reason RLB was sacked wasn’t that she retweeted something but that, according to leadership sources, “she repeatedly refused to remove her retweet of Maxine Peake's article when asked to do so“ (leastways according to the BBC). This fella both apologised and withdrew. Seems very consistent to me. Right, so it's not the antisemitism that's the main issue it's the removing it immediately after you're banged to rights? I get it now. Doesn't seem very "zero tolerant" that to be fair......

In fairness, with the pace at which social media moves it is quite easy to retweet, like or share something that you later find out is problematic. So I think removing it does make a difference.

It was either antisemitic or it wasn't? Bearing in Mind RLB just retweeted something from her friend and Labour member and didn't endorse the particular phrase in question, whereas Steve Reed himself tweeted an antisemitic trope..............

If it turns out to be genuine the footage from the Israeli training video of the knee repeatedly going into the kneck certainly adds a twist to the situation.

It's quite possible the issue being OPST (officer personal safety training) trainers use techniques from all over the world and from numerous arts from MMA to judo, boxing, Muay Thai etc. It was correct though the knee on the neck was approved which I find bizarre because anyone familiar with a "chokehold" knows how dangerous that is.

It is bizarre if we assume public safety is a concern of the police in these places.

Absolute horse shit from Starmer. This is from RLB's version of events from the Guardian:
"I explained to the leader’s office that I would never have intended to retweet or endorse anything that could cause hurt to anyone. I know how painful the issue of antisemitism has been for the Jewish community and I have been part of the efforts to eradicate it from our party.
So we discussed how to clarify this. The wording of my clarification, outlining that I did not endorse all aspects of the article, was drafted and agreed by the leader’s office. After some discussion regarding whether to delete the original tweet and tweet the clarification separately, or to quote the original tweet, I was advised to add it to my original tweet so the context would be clear. That is exactly what I did.
Shortly afterwards I was informed that the clarification I had agreed with the leader’s office was insufficient, and was asked to delete it and the original retweet it was attached to."
So she discussed what to do with the the Labour leadership and it was initially agreed that her re-tweet should stay up but with clarifying comments (which she did). It was later decided that she should delete the re-tweet and the clarification (which she refused to do). He's boxed in and this is going to keep happening to him now.

I hate rating this kind of shit but what Reed tweeted is so more offensive than what Long bailey re-tweeted the outcomes are actually sickening.
Starmer is a disgrace.

History will look back on this through a different lens than our media is currently providing. And it wont be kind to the policised conflaters and inflaters of anti semitism claims that are fuelling fear and alienation in parts the Jewish community.

If it wasn’t so serious it would be laughable......

Part 3 of Starmer’s “zero tolerance” approach to antisemitism.
I await the outcome with bated breath.....
