He’s legend for stoke and he’ll get the loyalty he deserves because stoke tend to look after their players and rightly so. But I simply don’t see him being match fit again, unfortunately as much as he wants and us as fans want him to be. He was match fit yesterday Match fit for an under 23s game, not the same is it

So he never said, it was one of his biggest mistakes,. Are you right in the head? Ryan Shawcross is up there with Greenhoff, Matthews and Smith. He’s a living legend. All you seem to want to do is chip away at him. Did he run over your dog or something? Have a look in the mirror, you are a grown man with a obsession with a professional footballer. He is not in the same league as the three you have mentioned. Why don't you start a Shawcross appreciation /lovers thread and I won't comment on it. Living legend, ,, get a grip

IMO Ryan has given us everything he has every season since he signed. He’s put his body on the line time and again. And he’s still doing it. If you think it’s right to disregard that and throw him on the shit heap despite the fact that he still seems to be striving to get fit then fair enough. Personally it would leave a bad taste in my mouth if we hounded him out. When you think of the millions we wasted in wages on the likes of Imbula, Jesé, Wimmer etc. Players who hardly broke a sweat never mind a bone for us. Ryan deserves our trust that if he thinks he can get back and play then we support him in doing that. He is a multi millionaire because of Stoke. If he did end up on the scrap heap it would be a nice one after getting nearly seven million in wages for the last three seasons and hardly kicking a ball. Who is hounding him out, ??

Oatcake myth, Ferguson never said it "I was delighted to see him called up for the England squad because he is a quality player I have wished – particularly of late – was still at Old Trafford," the manager said in the programme for Stoke's visit. ...then... "We made the right decision keeping Jonny Evans but I'm not so sure about letting Shawcross join Stoke." www.theguardian.com/football/2012/oct/20/sir-alex-ferguson-ryan-shawcross[br Ferguson tickling bellies like he always did. If Ferguson wanted Shawcross he just would have bought him but he didn't and neither did any other club try.

One of the first names on the team sheet for all of the 10 years we were in the Premier League. I don't really get this vendetta you've got against Shawcross and making him out to be something he isn't.

Shawcross is a Stoke legend, simple as that. Simple,,, Club captain at 21, nearly 400 senior appearances, most of them during one of the club's golden eras, 8th in the list of most appearances In the club's history, one of only eight Stoke players to appear for the club in three decades, the only Stoke City captain to lead the team out in an FA Cup Final. Most definitely a club legend.

He was never the best in the premiership. He was never going to be in at a top six club, England captain first choice, European champions league club, none of that That was the shite put on here. In fact was he ever the best centre half at Stoke,??

I started watching Stoke in the 60’s and Shawcross is definitely up there with the best we’ve had in my time supporting Stoke. For the league and time Denis Smith played, he was a legend also, but he wouldn’t even make a substitute these days because refs wouldn’t let him ( or any of our home grown defence of the 70’s) stay on the pitch for more than 20 minutes. Most Centre Forwards were the “ up and at ‘em type ( Chivers, Jones, Osgood, Toshack, Ron and Wyn Davies) while the tricky players were either wide men ( Cooke, Eddie Grey,) or midfielders; there was no Aguero, Henri, Berbatov , types for Smith and Bloor to contend with. Of the 70’s there are two players would have graced any side playing now- they are Best and Hudson- their skill levels were right up there and most of today’s “normal” premier stars would never have been able to play on the 70’s pitches. I just don’t get how Shawcross wouldn’t be rated with our best crop of the last 50 years.

After some of the dickwits post 2014 that have extracted a fortune from the club, without the slightest interest in playing for SCFC, I wouldn’t worry about the money. He’s the closest incarnation of Dennis Smith we’ve had since. So “Legend” is fair enough.

He was easily good enough for top 6, but was happy at Stoke. That’s abundantly clear. Had he requested a transfer, you’re telling me a (at that time) Spurs or Everton wouldn’t of come knocking?! And had he been at a more fashionable club, he wouldn’t of got international game time?! And as for the best at stoke, absolutely. As much as I loved Huth, Ryan was the main character. Other than our first season or two when Abdy Faye took him under his wing, he has been a huge part of our premier league success. And by success, I mean by Stokes standards.

Still has something to offer but that's it for him being a regular. I think it has held us back recently that it is assumed that our partnership will be ShawX + somebody else.
Instead of a partner for him we need to buy somebody to play over him.
