That contract needs to be reviewed Stoke review it and he says no, waste of time. Every contract can be reviewed or terminated if it cannot be fulfilled

I'd love to be wrong but I'd be very surprised if Ryan Shawcross makes a meaningful contribution on the pitch again for Stoke.
Whatever happens though he's been fantastic for Stoke has always given his all. Lesser men would have already hung up their boots after all his problems. If he does retire soon he definitely needs a testimonial.

Arnie wouldn't come back for that, he told Shawcross and Butland what he thought of them as he strutted off the pitch after ripping them apart after his last appearance at Stoke.

Do we know what the latest injury is? Certainly not seen any updates or reports unless MON has spoke today. Shame for Ryan, his heart is here thats a given, as said though sentiment has to go out the window.

Yep roll up for the testimonial Only if the proceeds go to charity He should get a testimonial but as most modern footballers are not short of a bob or two and Ryan being Ryan then you can gaurantee that the proceeds will go to charity. Legend.

In a Stoke City sense he’s definitely in that league. What good is that,? IMO Ryan has given us everything he has every season since he signed. He’s put his body on the line time and again. And he’s still doing it. If you think it’s right to disregard that and throw him on the shit heap despite the fact that he still seems to be striving to get fit then fair enough. Personally it would leave a bad taste in my mouth if we hounded him out. When you think of the millions we wasted in wages on the likes of Imbula, Jesé, Wimmer etc. Players who hardly broke a sweat never mind a bone for us. Ryan deserves our trust that if he thinks he can get back and play then we support him in doing that.

Some sections of the stoke support are a very strange bunch.

If fit Ryan would still probably be an asset, but that is the problem. He seems to break down over and over again! As someone said the central defenders need to play together for some time to form a good partnership, and this is another problem with Ryan as things stand. Ryan has been a fantastic servant to Stoke City Football Club, but picking up big wages and have no contribution on the pitch isn't good for us right now because of FFP. In many ways I think Ryan and Batth have the same strengths and weaknesses, Ryan is probably quicker, but on the other hand he needs more time to turn now. Both are very good defenders, but none of them are great on the ball. I think Batth was our best player by far after the corona break, so in my opinion we should build our defence around him.

People will be wanting to resurrect Dennis Smith next! How about Johnny McCue? Id prefer smith than either baath or Chester. As long as he doesn't co-commentate.

Ryan has dedicated his career to Stoke but let's face it he hasn't been reliably fit for a very long time. I understand the loyalty people have for him but to hope that he will be our lynchpin defender for the season to come is completely unrealistic and it's obvious. Clearly the club are never going to just dump him and nor should they but he absolutely cannot be part of the plan going forward.

If they retire through injury then insurance kicks in.

Stoke review it and he says no, waste of time. Every contract can be reviewed or terminated if it cannot be fulfilled Since when has a club terminated a contract due to injuries to a player without the player agreeing, it just doesn't happen.

Do you see him getting and remaining fit for a long season ahead? Yes. I would never write Ryan off and if he's fit, he plays. It's that simple really. As with all these returns from injury, the key is a 4-5 game run. If he can get those, he'll play regularly.

Interesting comments from the manager after today suggesting a potential mental issue with Ryan re. Injuries.
Personally I'd write him off as a starter, take the pressure right out of the situation and let him ease himself back in.
I honestly think we've been better without him since relegation.
