For me it's " the man( or woman ) in the street, the person who gets on with their daily lives, successes, families and challenges without the need , desire or time to be political , have causes and issues with everything....Its the best I can do and I believe that most ordinary people know what I mean....probably even you. You are often political on here John, as are others. Are we not all “ordinary Joe’s?” Explore it here ,if it is causing you problems. dictionary.cambridge.org/example/english/ordinary-person

Not at all....I think you've made it clear that it has caused you a problem....and you've resorted to the usual of making it personal. Never mind. And who is " the next man"?....an ordinary person?

It hasn't caused me a problem whatsoever John. And I'm not sure how not to make it "personal" when I'm giving an opinion about what "you" typed. I was merely interested how you define an "ordinary person?". For example can you be not particularly arsed about a statue of Churchill being defaced as it's an inanimate object and still be an "ordinary person?"

And you've clearly not get anything better to do either. If you don't want to answer John just say.......

However I'm more than wiling to accept that whilst as Brits we pay homage to Churchill, if I was Bengali, a Kurd, an Afghan, Irish or a striking Miner I might have a different take. And I'm cool with the statue being in a museum with a full timeline of his life in politics so that people can make their own judgement.......

Strange that no Bengalis, Afghans, Kurds or miners have seen fit to deface it though. I suppose 'Benjamin Clark' could have some tenuous Irish link. But it's usually angry white kids getting in a tizz over stuff (the sort who call other people 'gammons' without a shred of irony). It's almost as daft as some folk whipping themselves up into a frenzy over some back street in Liverpool being named after a bloke who died hundreds of years ago that most people associate with a pop song anyway. The black community of Liverpool don't seem to have given it a second thought pre-2020. Agree with the museum/timeline thing though. It's probably the best solution all round.

Most people are “ordinary average Joe’s” though aren’t they, that’s my point. John seems to think that those who share his viewpoint are “ordinary”, and those that don’t, well who knows how he classified them that’s for him to answer I guess..... Most people share his viewpoint I’d imagine🤔 Most people I know do, most shared the viewpoint about Brexit and about Corbyn it's not a coincidence that they voted for the victors is it, these sad libtards are just very poor bitter losers like spoilt brats kicking and screaming because the naughty grown up's have put them in their place at last, petty vindictive little children still clinging to the Marxist dream sad tin hats.

Yep they seem incapable of putting together a coherent argument about pretty much anything. It’s just Twitter post after Twitter post of opinions that reflect their own deluded opinions as though it’s truth and fact. Pretty pathetic really.

I find scenes of mobs tearing down and defacing statues unedifying. Why couldn't those behind the tearing down of the Colston statue in Bristol have started an on line petition to the Council to remove the statue? It would probably have achieved the desired result. Those who choose to deface statues of Churchill need to ask themselves what kind of existence they would have had if Churchill had not stood up to the Nazis. Let us not forget that there were plenty of appeasers in the Tory Party in June 1940 who thought he was mad to pursue the war. By all means educate youngsters about some of his other shortcomings but his role in opposing Nazi Germany overrides all other consideration in my view. Thus speaks a boring old fart. I think they did www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/its-disgrace-thousands-call-removal-4195886

When a statue has to be put onto a ten foot plinth, maybe the person in question isn't worthy of a statue in the first place......

Part 3 of the Thatcher years was showing on BBC4 last night, fascinating programme. Fascinating also to see what an absolute basket case the UK was when she came into office. A woman as party leader, a woman as PM good Lord that must have rattled the misogynists and then they allowed her to start cleaning..... cleaning Leicester Square of rubbish bags once and for all, cleaning up the mortuaries and allowing a decent burial, taking away candle power and replacing it with that more up to date thing called electricity

Were you involved? Sounds the sort of shitty practice you would revel in. Infantile goon.
