I'm on my 4th hand held cordless Dyson and every one of his hand helds has ended up with the same fault which is it just cuts out every 10 seconds or so.
Always seems to happen just as the warranty runs out. Drive you nuts, you want to to break it over James Dyson's head!
The main wheelie one which runs off the mains has always been fine.
Am I just unlucky or do I need to find another brand for the cordless which doesn't conk out with such maddening regularity?

Our Dyson is quite old and was/is a cracking hoover maybe it's a known fault that they are struggling to cure with your model.

We've got a Dyson Animal and it's shit hot. Personally, if you've got pets and carpets I'd keep away from the cordless ones, we tried a Vax one but nowhere near hard wearing enough as our only vacuum cleaner. I've heard that those Shark vacuum cleaners are really good.

But, like anything, they find a winning formula but need to justify more updated versions. They then piss around with it so much that it ceases to be as good.

Much as I like to promote british businesses we've had dysons which are not as good as the much cheaper henry. Plus one of my mates who is a consultant who worked there for a while doesn't have much time for dyson and his management team.

Dyson's are shit. We have one of the hand held ones, my missus bought it against my better judgement after the last one came to an early demise and it keeps conking out.
Shark’s are far better.....

In what might be about 120 years worth of marriage, we've had an Electrolux plug-in which was ok, a Vax which was crap, a Dyson which I don't think was much better but we tolerated it longer than the Vax, and we currently have a plug-in Miele which is superb, and a cordless Bosch which, too, is superb.

This is a subject that upsets me bitterly.
Read an article comparing all the cordless vacs. It said there was not one that was best in all respects. They said the Dyson top model performed best but was the most expensive and heavy relative to others. I bought one and have been bitterly disappointed. I find all machines without disposable bags are messy with dust flying everywhere when you empty them. The Dyson blocks very easy with a carpet due to tufts blocking the entrance to the waste section from the cyclones.
Used to have a Henry which worked well for many (20?) years, but was a pain dragging it about particularly the stairs. When it finally packed up, I bought another that was absolute rubbish and the suction hose snapped after a few months. I got my money back from Wilko.
I afraid modern vacs suffer from too much competition driving the quality down to provide the cheapest product, coupled with EU legislation which reduced the permitted maximum power. As an engineer less power means less effective to me.

I had one of those Henry Hoovers but thought it kept staring at me so put in in the skip. Now I use a dustpan and brush or just buy bigger rugs.

Gods I think im more of a domestic god than you are , we have an old hand held Dyson must be 6 years old maybe and never had a problem , I just keep cleaning / washing the filter etc , we also have the the animal which is a step up again , and if I’m good she says I will have a new one this Xmas 😎
