I live quite close to six towns oatcakes and they are superb. Thin and light and slightly bigger diameter than average. Considering it's a Polish lass who started it up she's got it bang on, certainly puts Povey's shoe leather oatcakes to shame ( which I grant you isn't difficult ). Are they the ones opposite Central Forest park ? I used to walk down there on Sunday mornings when I lived in Sneyd Green for a couple of years That's the one Oatcake shop of the year last year.

I used to live 30 seconds walk from the Hole in the wall when I first got married mate They were Vale who owned that 😊 Well I never knew that... Vale owners you say😝 I can still picture the people serving through the hole and the owner real nice guy, god knows how long it's been closed. Tried a couple of oatcake shops recently and not been too impressed although Bucknall oatcakes are 👌 if your not strange and like oatcakes that is😉 Paul the owner of Bucknall oatcakes is a good friend of mine and I can tell you him and his daughter are vale season ticket holders.

PS it was his oatcake shop that appeared on cops like us a few weeks back that followed police in S-O-T on their daily jobs.

Not sure if this should go on the memorial board or not really. We have known for a couple of months that the supermarket oatcake brand had purchased highlane, it was obvious as they had changed the recipe or something was off, for years this had been a Sunday tradition, dozen oatcakes take them back home and I made breakfast for me and the current future ex mrs flea79. Mr Povey, fuck you taking a great thing and turning it into poveys 2.0, everybody has a favourite oatcake shop and this was ours! Sod BLM and Covid we need a protest against this injustice. (Other brands of oatcake are available) I have always found Hamil oatcakes to be better (less than a mile away). It's very close to getting your feet dirty and he is a miserable bastard (I often wondered if he is momo) but the oatcakes are divine.

Get theesen down Foleys on Fenton's. Quality oatcakes not like those bloody door step poveys or north staffs rubbish from Tesco's. Don't think Foley's are currently open. Some of my friends rate them highly

Saw the High Lane news. The uproar on Facebook was a sight to see Had Kidsgrove Oatcakes the other day and have to say they were really nice. Just recently I've been limited to either Lockett's or North Staffs, I wouldn't touch North Staff's with a shitty stick. Lockett's weren't much better but can't eat that North Staffs shite. Haven't had Foley's in a while, last time I had them they were cracking. They still good?

The best is still London Road Oatcakes. That's the one I use, handy for when driving past Stoke, divert off the M6 and get 3 dozen, and a couple of filled ones for my lunch.

Havent posted for ages, but a good Oatcake conversation has stirred me
I live in Biddulph, Poveys are actually really nice when made fresh in the shop and hot with fillings, even bought fresh and taken home as a doz, but I agtee they aren't the nicest bought from another shop - I presume they have some sort of preservative in given they freeze and send them all over the world (they cant be that bad, they sell tens of thousands per day!)
I have lived in the South of the city when I first got married before coming home
Locketts in Longton were always really nice, big queues on Sat mornings Six Towns by Forest Park I tried once while my lad sat his driving theory nearby, big and thin, were top drawer Castle Oatcakes were always a staple of Saturday mornings in the office when I worked at Alliance/Auto Direct back in the 90s High Lane I've had a few times, not sure on the furore about it, I found them a bit greasy hot from the shop (although they are nice from the corner shop nearby!)
Could just bang some cheese oatys down my neck reading this thread.

I had one a bit ago and wasn't to keen nowadays though (no idea if its still locketts?) Re Castle oatcakes, whilst I go there, I don't think that there oatcakes are that great

Cannot day about fresh though. As I mention on the other page they were nicer than North Staffs but they weren’t brilliant. Cannot beat a good cooked oatcake straight from the shop though with filling. I could murder one right now

I grew up on High Lane oatcakes and to this day they're the best you can get, or at least they were.
Always had them to make at home as I dislike them microwaving their rolled ones.
Cooked on a hotplate - Hamil Road and Burslem Oatcakes are delicious.
To make at home Cornhills are banging, based in Norton but I get mine from the local butcher. Grilled with sausage and Cheshire cheese, bloomin marvelous.

Benda's in Kidsgrove used to be top notch but now we have Hamiltons, who owned Brenda's and kept the same name, he was also the baker under the previous owner but now has got back in the game and has his own shop next to the job centre in Kidsgrove, they are bigger than your average oatcake but are really good.
Working in Congleton the oatcake shop just up from the purple pakora is also an excellent oatcake.
