Basically I think we are going to need a good dose of socialist ideas everybody needs to chip in to get the economy going again, fair taxation for a start more bailouts for the big employers, maybe universal basic income and definitely nationalisation for certain industries.. Also a concerted effort to buy local and British but without ignoring worldwide products,

Also a concerted effort to buy local and British but without ignoring worldwide products, I think that we need a pragmatic and caring government and one that at least tries to improve the lot and life chances of all sections of the society. And in a competitive world puts the country first. I'm not sure that if it is termed left or right, socialist or capitalist helps anymore, except to prolong the intellectual class war and confines the decision makers to short sighted decisions.I'm not sure that the disenfranchised in society relate to the class battle any longer.

I don't think that the decision makers on the left ( nor right) are/ would be pragmatic....by that I mean making big strategic decisions based upon first example ,expediency and opportunity.
I don't think that the working class use the term " left" very much. The disillusioned and disenfranchised , I believe, are disillusioned and disenfranchised because , cine election time, usually only the same party based choices are available with a few added incentives because the politicians want the vote.

The " left" do always seem to turn most discussions into personal issues...that's part of the problem with the " left" As you bring it up though, I am particularly disappointed in the " left" or those arguing for the " left" because I think they are part of the problem.....I wish that I could genuinely support a movement on the " left" but can't see it again in my lifetime.....only if others do really badly....and then if it comes to that" God help us". Claire Fox is on the left but is critical of the left....the left would do well to listen to her. And this man gets it But crack on , don't listen

I’m afraid this’ll be the tip of the iceberg for the foreseeable future. It’s going to be shite for millions of people make no mistake I was talking to a friend at work (phone) who said that the government will want to recoup the money they’ve shelved out on the furlough scheme somehow, so expect higher taxes, cuts to local government funding for years to come.

This particular video , from someone clearly on the " left", offers a good insight into the issues facing the left. Not me , she is saying it....I've yet to hear a reasonable comment or refute of what she is saying, what do you think?

Not groundbreaking....it has been said before in a range of ways from different people...unfortunately the " left" just can't seem to grasp it...so not groundbreaking....frustrating perhaps and playing into the hands of those in power.

I've said for a few years that a living wage would be a good idea. I mentioned a few weeks/months/years (when did this pandemic start?) ago that this was the perfect situation to start it. Living wage plus mortgage/rent payments covered. That would've cost the government less than furlough and everything else they've done probably, and there would be far less people getting nothing at all.

It’s going to be shite for millions of people make no mistake Forms will have covid as an excuse to cull staff in a way they wouldn’t have been able to do before Yep its a definite bring out you dead moment for companies who haven't been doing well now they can close sites, make staff redundant blame it all on the pandemic and management will mostly escape scrutiny, but make no mistake firms that were doing ok will also look at rationalising / consolidating sites. The parent company of where I have done alot of contracting spent over $500m to acquire a business shortly before covid hit and have just written it all off.
