Surely Australia can’t lose this one.
But...
Maxwell may be talented, but he doesn’t seem to have much between the ears.

Would anybody else give rashid the last over?

Well, Captain Morgan is fallible.
Poor decision to go for Rashid for the last over. After working his magic getting rid of the centurions he didn’t need to gamble. With 10 needed off the last over he should have gone with Curran.
Fuck.
I hate seeing the Aussies celebrate. One of the most horrible sights anywhere.

One mistake from Morgan although before the last over the bowling wasn't great having them 80 odd for 5.

Ah bollocks, should have been Wood or Curran. It’s their job, I get the attraction because it foxed Maxwell, but you’ve just seen Archer go for 4 runs bowling into the pitch. That’s all Tom Curran is there for too?
We’ve praised him and rightly so but that was a total brainfade IMO. First decision I’ve not agreed with in about 3 years.
First home series defeat in 5 years too, so can’t grumble too much, but we’d actually put ourselves in the driving seat in Over 49.

England have won a few from seemingly hopeless positions, got a taste of their own medicine on this one, Morgans last over call looked all wrong and so it proved.

They were the better team over the 3 games - just.
Put Stokes in that team and we win fairly comfortably.....

Deserved series win for the Aussies, we’ve been pretty poor throughout in all honesty. We did well to make a series of it considering Roy, Root, Morgan and Buttler contributed absolutely nothing.
Roy and Root should have been dropped after the first game, they were clearly so rusty that they were unlikely to find any form in such a short space of time.
We don’t often have reason to criticise Morgan but he’s had a poor night tonight. He tried to be too clever bowling Root for as long as did which allowed Maxwell and Carey to set themselves.
The decision to give the final over to Rashid was just baffling. I bet Starc couldn’t believe his luck when he looked up expecting to see Wood or Curran walking to their mark.

Yeah defo, Starc isn’t Zampa for instance, he was either going to get 6 or out with a spinner. Instead of bowling cutters and into the pitch we just gave him a freebie right in his arc. Only leggy I’d ever turn to in that situation is someone like Afridi or Tahir (not that I think I would) who would zip it through.

I just mental that such an experienced and successful captain thought that it was the right thing to do. Wood was getting up to 95mph tonight, I’m not so sure Starc would have been hitting him for six.

The end of the summer... so, who has had their days in the sun and who has been under a rain cloud.
Here comes the sun... Broad and Anderson - showed they are still the best we have... in English conditions at least. Both reached major landmarks, bowled beautifully and Broad remembered which end of a bat to hold Morgan - showed he was human in the last ODI but otherwise excelled as captain and performed well with the bat Buttler - hit a low during the tests but bounced back in fine style with bat and gloves Woakes - showed he can legitimately be considered as a genuine all rounder in red and white ball cricket Crawley - that huge knock has secured his place in the side for a good while. Malan & Billings - put in strong performances that shows they are worthy of a place in the starting 11 in white ball cricket
Why does it always rain on me... Mo - one solid knock (and one cameo) aside he was unconvincing in everything he did. Will probably get another chance in the upcoming tour of India. At least he had the landmark honour of being the first Muslim with a beard to captain England. Rooooooot - way below his best with the bat throughout the summer and as bad as ever as a captain. Not to mention his running between the wickets. Roy - started poorly and stayed that way making only one start that Root put an end to (see above)
Of the rest, they all did some good stuff at times and less good at others, their reputations not particularly enhanced or diminished through the season.
So, more good than bad.
Which is good!

I think I'd add Burns to the list of under performers despite one decent 90 odd against the Windies, he loooked really poor against Pakistan and dropped a few catches also......

Hate losing to Australia but one thing struck me when watching their chase and that was the way both Maxwell and Carey celebrated their centuries. In the same position, Ben Stokes for example wouldn't have even stuck his bat in the air knowing the team objective of winning was still in the balance but these two were so focused on their individual achievements they nearly cost their team the win by getting out almost immediately after. It might be a small thing but was interesting to me anyway.

Him and Crawley improve us massively. Chris Woakes excellent across both disciplines.

Just been looking at the IPL, seems that there are 13 English players in the tournament.
If you’re looking for a team to follow, the Rajasthan Royals may be your best bet. They have 4 Englishmen, and what a four... Stokes, Buttler, Archer and Tom Curran.

Currently planning spending a big chunk of what will be my redundancy money. Mrs Q wants a sun-holiday in January & is favouring Jamaica. I could potentially sneak in a West Indies Championship game, if they're playing.
The sub-continent is a no-no. Mrs Q won't go there (fears of Delhi belly).
However,
Aus v India or Aus v New Zealand would be top of my list.
Any recommendations anyone? Doesn't have to be test cricket, just a decent standard & a bit of sun for Mrs Q.
This is all covid-restrictions dependent, of course, but all ideas welcome.

Ireland are touring the West Indies is January. 3 ODI’s and 3 T20’s. The venues are Barbados, Grenada and St Kitts👍🏻. In Australia the Big Bash T20 competition is being played throughout January so spoilt for choice there. There will be plenty of English players too no doubt. Finally as you mentioned there are a load of ODI’s and T20’s against India and New Zealand to go at.
