13 goals in 23 starts last season (and 4 sub appearances) - one goal every 155 minutes.
That is pretty impressive

Steven Fletcher looks like he's homeless and the kind of person you want to give a pound to or buy an extra meal for when you go to McDs.

A very brief trawl of their board for Fletcher threads....
One of my favourite players of the Chansiri era. Up there with Hooper and Bannan. Utter quality and unreal effort. Delight of a player. I wish him nothing but the best.
Great player at our level
Only one I’m gutted about. Not just because of his goal scoring ability and leading the line but he seems like a leader. Something we haven’t really got.
Compare Fletcher with Wickham. The man is utter class. And heart.
He's been class, but it's ridiculous to rely upon one player so much. That has to be addressed.
In the form of his career. Mobile. Makes opportunities for himself and others. Gives us options when in possession. Brave. 100% effort every game. Top man this season.
Fletcher has been our best player by far despite only playing half a season for us.
If Fletcher doesn’t win it I’ve been watching in a parallel universe. Head, shoulders, knees & toes our best player this season
I really like Fletch. He has heart and raises the entire teams confidence. I thought their big striker who hit the bar had a similar air about him. Obviously I’m preaching to the converted but I just galls me him many years we have known how much better Wednesday play with a top striker on board. We spend so much time trying to sort the rest of the team but you see the difference when someone like Fletch steps on the pitch. Without him we’re a different team.

His strike rate does look impressive on paper until you look at the massive percentage of goals scored against shite teams.🤔

I’d prefer Vokes to stay and look at our defence as a priority

Personally I feel for the money quoted on his wages, we could do better. He will also be 34 within 7months of signing for us.

He has been in the form of his life this term. A real leader of the attack. There is no denying he would have been a big asset for a tough-looking run-in.

Seriously So you wouldn’t buy him then? No I wouldn't or pay that amount for his wage if he came on a free. His wage works out at less than a million a year across the books. Who else would you sign with that record in this league, given we are dumbed down by FFP etc whilst being hamstrung with the players we have left over from other manager's mess? For example, Vokes works out at 1.5M a year just based on his yearly transfer fee amortisation, before you factor in his wages. We aren't at a place where we have parachute payments and we can pick and choose. Those days are long gone. We are at a point in time where we need best value for money now over the next few years whilst our expensive flops run out of contract and disappear, to keep us competitive at the right end of the league. I agree with the general concensus of needing and wanting younger and better, but players like this should be able to dovetail with the younger players like Campbell, Oakley Boothe etc which to be fair O'Neill has said he wants. Let's see where we are in October.

It is worth pointing out that he was very good for Wednesday last season! Wednesday were shite though even when they were near the top they looked awful. It fills me with no confidence. Vokes is better

videocelts.com/2020/08/blogs/latest-news/celtic-friendly-presenter-gives-steven-fletcher-update/Peter Martin has tweeted that Stoke City are now the favourites to sign Steven Fletcher.
Overnight two reports appeared claiming that Celtic had offered the striker a 12 month deal with Stoke named as competition.
Martin is a favourite of Celtic’s executive management, performing his MC role at a number of club events and the Evening With Scott Brown to mark the captain’s book launch.

And if we were linked with him I’d want him on a year deal. 30 year olds and up should be offered nothing more.
