Have we ever had a local band thread?
Can't remember one.
Saw an excellent South Cheshire band at the NUL bank holiday thing once called Dirty Vertebrae, I'll have a look for these Shader chaps.

They've been around for years under various names. For a while they were a two piece, The Alones, with their current guitarist as a brilliant drummer. They 've always written great songs, like other bands they may have been too loyal to Stoke, if they had claimed to be from Manchester they might have got more attention.
Here's another strong song they've been doing for years!:

I like Filth and was hoping to have seen them live by now: I caught Honey just before everything was cancelled: Alfa 9 returned recently after a long hiatus (my most seen live local band): These are the two favourite tracks my own band recorded, one that was described as "slowed down Pixies" and another grungey post-rock if that's a thing: notthecakes.bandcamp.com/album/relocate-my-satellites

Some great stuff on this thread deserving a wider audience. Good to know there's indie bands out there still inspired. Listening to the radio had got me thinking it was all pretty shite at the moment. Then again, that's pretty much been the case since the mid 80's* - reminds me i must get out and see more live stuff...

Each to their own but I could only watch a minute of that before turning it off. Shame, would be nice have a decent band from these parts but I'm yet to see one.

Don't get me wrong, I like a good indie band that have summit original to say but I have no time for bands who are making music that sounds like it's been picked up off an Oasis cutting floor. That scene is dead now to me.

I don't know if The Blue Collars are still going but I like a couple of their's. All The Young packed it in a few years ago I'm pretty sure. I've sure I've got a limited edition CD of Welcome Home somewhere....

They announced in December a reform and released this record but sadly with everything unable to do any gigs.

Check the excellent Stoke band, "Psyence" I saw these supporting warmduscher, filth were very good too. I was taken back by how good they were, i purchased the self titled vinyl album not a bad track on it. Brilliant for me 👍👌

Herzoga emerged like a slightly singed phoenix from the ashes of Princess Headbutt and the mighty The Mittens..... Did Radio One Evening sessions from Maida Vale. Unfortunately now in a haitus, torn apart geographically they have just released a retrospective {for charidee..} Herzoga, nearly the best band ever.... The keen eyed may recognise a Peaky Blinder... and there's also the author of 'Paranormal Staffordshire' amongst their ranks.....

This Herzoga tune has a Mittens-sound about it if I remember them rightly. I see an album here: wrongpop.bandcamp.com/What music are you into? You might like one of the three I posted above. I'll listen to anything but country really. Don't get me wrong, I like a good indie band that have summit original to say but I have no time for bands who are making music that sounds like it's been picked up off an Oasis cutting floor. That scene is dead now to me. I'm similar - if something has a big Oasis vibe, it has to be very good or have something different about it for me to want to listen again. Some bands pull it off. I still think the bands I posted above are worth checking out if you haven't, especially Filth, and Alfa 9 if you don't mind something sounding like Pink Floyd, which the occasional song of theirs does. Though they sound more like Teenage Fanclub on their new album.

Not to everyone’s taste, obviously, but it’s at number 3 in the charts with a bullet
Can only be good for the local scene

Though they sound more like Teenage Fanclub on their new album. The Mittens were great.... there's a live ep thing of them at The Talbot... Lead singer Ian did various solo things and a band Horowitz whgo did a rather fine LP {vinyl etc} but veered at times to the too twee for me... subjective... They have recorded more stuff thisa year... Herzoga were mint and continued the more edgier punkier side of The Mittens.. {who to me were like Manic/Buzzcock/Jams}, and exhilirating live.... Wrongpop was/is a label and a series of nights put on at The Glebe from the mid 2000's. The album is great.. angular punk/pop like Futureheads/Gang of Four/Young Knives etc with intelligent wry lyrics etc... I'd forgotten, drummer and guitarist from Herzoga formed Moscow... shame on me... they joined forces with a vocalist from another burgeoning Stoke band whose name eludes me... I recognise they are/were good at what they do and the music is great etc... Saw them a few times, once at Gladstone Pottery Museum... I suppose I was disappointed that Herzoga hadn't really smashed it... so never quite did it for me... ..but I was reminded of them earlier and murmurings of Moscow having unfinished business....
