He's either been misquoted (given his reluctance to learn English whilst he was here that seems plausible) or has the financial and contractual acumen of Donald Trump.

Imbula's thoughts 'I don't want to be here' 'I don't want to put in any effort at any club for any any manager' 'I don't want to give up my huge contract' 'where is Sochi again?'

It seems tome that he did not grasp the meaning of the word "commitment" and all that this entailed.

After his first few Nzonzi-esque performances it looked like we'd got a world beater. So frustrating when a player has talent and simply can't be arsed.

We can blame him all you want but if you're paying near 20 million for someone you do your due-diligence, we clearly didn't. He's a shitbag but it's not his fault we're careless enough to end up with a turd like him.
As for the idea we couldn't expect it, I struggle to believe they could have sat down in an interview with that man and believed he gave a toss.

The warning signs were there with a club selling him so soon after signing him nevermind anything else. I don’t think it is. I mean after the first half a dozen games or so everyone couldn’t believe how good he was. If you as a club had watch him play those games you wouldn’t hesitate to sign him. Whether something happened behind the scenes after those games we don’t know but he’s been a lazy shit.

In fairness, he definitely had talent - just an awful attitude. Hughes had made a success of Arnie who came with arguably more baggage than Imbula at the time of his move so presume management and the club thought/hoped he’d be able to repeat the same trick.

I'm living in Russia now and following the RPL by default and hadn't even realised he had moved here. I live in Moscow so I'll definitely go along and see him when he plays my side (Lokomotiv). If he even manages to make their squad. Fucking waste of space. It'll be worth the rubles just to go and call him a lazy wanker.

Imbula said “I had many club proposals and I even had the opportunity to go to a large French club"
I would argue that at Stoke in the Premier league he was already at the biggest club of his career, unless you count Porto, where he lasted about 6 months.

Marseille and Porto dwarf Stoke however we provided the Premier League stage.

I've never got the myth of how wonderful he was over the first few games... I saw one good game for us (plus one in cologne playing against us) and several where he kept losing the ball trying to do too much.

Wimmer has also said he's too good for Stoke and feels that he should be at a club like spurs .
Likewise berahino , who also believed he should be at a club like spurs
Of course all 3 of them are deluded .
But so are Stoke for spending millions on players who don't want to be here .
Quite simply, mark Hughes , mark Cartwright and Tony scholes are clueless.
And how scholes is still here, nobody knows .

Your own description of him prove that. But he was frozen out. Then he reacted by virtually going on strike (as even Walters did). He also didn't help himself in so many ways.

So frustrating because you can see he could have had it all.

It is of course misguided faith but as such I would always regard Stoke as being bigger than most foreign based teams like Marseilles and Porto.
