Isn't it average home and away points?
Charlton, Luton and Barnsley go. We finish 18th. Leeds Champions, WBA second
I guess Hull fans will be the happiest

Excuse my ignorance as I am sure you will, what does this mean? I presume it's straightforward Played 37 points 42 = 42/37*46 = 52.22 points Rather than say weight it for points average at home/Points average away then see how many home and away games are left. |

Table stays exactly as it is. No change in position for anyone.
PPG is simply points earned / games played. As we have all played 37 games, it would make no difference to final positions.
If they weighted it home v away, then we could see some small changes in position since some clubs have played more home games vs away, or vice versa. Even with a weighted system, we wouldn’t go down.
Our risk of relegation lies in us having to play the season out.

The question is unweighted PPG, we’ve all played the same number of games so our unweighted PPG would see us exactly where we are?? |

Hence teams who say have a last 4 homes of Leeds, WBA, Fulham and say Forest would have a better average because they've not played the top sides yet.
Do I have an alternative, nope, but this system is totally flawed

With there only being 6pts between 6th and 13th in the champ and only another 3pts to the team above us it’s quite a challenge. But I’m not sure a Charlton fan would agree, given Hull’s form and Charlton having an arguably favourable set of remaining fixtures. There’s also 3 points between 2nd and 8th in League One, so the same argument can be applied there. I’m not saying I know a safer/fairer way but every method I’ve seen suggested has flaws. |

Either way the average per home/away seem sto be the preferred way but agree above with Hull and Charlton but you could argue that Charlton are the team in the current bottom 3 so would make things fairer rather than chance the league placings on what might have been. Charlton themselves fell down the league like Hull have done and nothing to suggest Hull would have continued to do so and Charlton pick up. Seems fair to me |

A league is, and means (I'm going to state the obvious here, but it needs saying) a group of teams/people all playing each other in turn, sometimes home and away. The result, winners, losers etc. is not decided until all the games have been played. Hence the saying 'The only league table that matters is the final one'. Yes, in some circumstances, a team can be so far ahead on top, or far behind on the bottom, that they can't be mathematically caught. But this isn't the case in all the top English leagues at the moment. Take Liverpool in the PL. They have played 15 and won 15 home games this season. Palace, Burnley, Villa, and Chelsea still have to play at Anfield. These matches could have a huge effect on relegation and Champions League qualification. If a league can't be finished, void it. It's far from perfect, no solution will be, but it's the fairest, best of all the options being proposed. |

Seeing as 22/23 season is going to be fucked over by the Qatar World cup surely there is a lag somewhere that enables this season to be finished.
Put rivalries aside , I don't want to be laughing at Vale, Liverpool, Leeds , West Ham etc . There is no solution for me other than 46 games completed and 38 in The Premier.
I'll laugh then at the ones that miss out.

It is such an unbelievable load of bollocks if teams go up or down from some points per game system no one knew about when the season started. You can't change the rules of a sport just like that. Even in the current situation we're in. If it cant be completed then it should all be forgotten about and everyone starts this season over again in August or whenever they can play. Id even keep the same fixtures in the same order, and the same draws for the first rounds of the cup competitions. |

Whilst your option has a lot of merit there will still be all the questions about players contracts etc I certainly wouldn't like to have to make the call...and the potential lawsuits... If ALL clubs agree on a solution it would at least avoid the litigation...but will they? |
