I love how he now gets slaughtered on here To a man they were ecstatic when he signed that long term contract on relegation If I could be arsed I’d find the thread He got slaugtered at the time, hes a defender that can't defend or a wing back that is useless going forward, so much so he got chucked around anywhere and everywhere in hope it would work, it didn't, it was bizarre we were stupid enough to give him a new contract. Edit, we were desperate for pace so it was understandable to a point, but pace without any sort of skill/ability is useless. Hes not that bad defensively and even up until last season some of our most solid performances came with him at right back (see at home to Leeds which was one of his only starts). Going forward he's been at times very effective, and pretty much anything good in our relegation season was either through him or Shaqiri. He's had a shit couple of years and barely played a game for us, fully worthy of a second chance... Especially given our crippling lack of pace.

He was a breath of fresh air when he first came, just like Imbula, because he offered something different but was soon found wanting in his role. I personally would have him back but as an option on the right wing. As you say, we're lacking pace in the squad and he brings that, would be useful from the bench.

I've forgotten, can he cross a ball into the box?

I've forgotten, can he cross a ball into the box? Similar success rate to the rest of them I think - hit it in and hope it bounces for us. We're getting (or at least we were) a couple more players in the box now so even a bad cross can drop for someone...

As the Scottish season is now over could we play him when and if the Championship resumes ? Or did we have to name a squad, and presumably his name would not be on it. ?

I've always liked Bauer and think his pace could be a real asset. He's had a shit time under Rowett and Jones but I'm hopeful he gets another chance. I love how he now gets slaughtered on here To a man they were ecstatic when he signed that long term contract on relegation If I could be arsed I’d find the thread Remember it well mate

At least it means they're still paying him, or at least a percentage.

When he’s back, stick him left back. At least he can run, instead of Bruno who looks like he’s constantly running through treacle.

Did well at Old Trafford, wasn't the best defensively and even Lambert put him left wing. Rowett said he is good getting forward but isn't the best defensively. Could try him right wing/mid, would be hard to do less than Ince...

May be different under O’Neill But you have certainly hit the nail on the head Ince is fucking useless I think he is a conscientious objector In fact I’m convinced he is

We could do with Wollscheid back so that we could create a comedy double act!

We could do with Wollscheid back so that we could create a comedy double act! Better than anything we currently have, bar the unknown youth in Collins etc (who manages clearly don't have faith in).

Hard to look good when playing in the failing Stoke team at the time, he got a bigger share of the criticism than was warranted. Great energy he has. I'd like to see him back in the side.

Like 7 or 8 others in the bloated, unbalanced and overpaid squad he's NOT good enough. Had his chance here and at Celtic and clearly not a good enough defender to play full back or technical enough to play winger so another for the skip.

One of the only players in our relegation season who finished the campaign with any dignity. I'm not hallucinating. There is no doubt that very many fans (myself included) regarded his decision to commit himself to Stoke as one of the very few bright spots when we were relegated, and I think there is a considerable amount of re-writing history in this thread ! Since then it largely hasn't worked out for him either under the managers we had here ( and of course we know how much we all respect their judgement on players ) or on his loans. Could things change for him under MON ? I don't know. I'm quite happy to leave that judgement to MON. But if we could get back the player we had when he first came, I for one would be quite happy.

Pace is a killer in this league against a lot of the defenders who have the acceleration & turning circle of a canal barge. And I'm not excluding most of our defenders there.
If he is forced to defend, he is the epitomy of social distancing. Never within 2 metres of his man.

I think it was fair tbh, we were desperate for pace by any means at the time and is the only reason he was shoehorned in, but he wasn't much cop he was just a bit different from the plodders.

Dares to take on a man, has an eye going forward and can cross the ball.
Definitely way better than Ince.

I really do think that Moritz Bauer could do a job as a stand in for Joe Allen, he can tackle, has stamina and can beat a man, name someone else in the club who has those qualities. Stiffening up the midfield is a priority, putting Bauer in there would allow Clucas to move to the wing where he has always looked more comfortable, getting rid of Ince with Clucas being more of a goal threat.

Bauer can’t play can he?
He’s not registered with us for the season.
