Quick heads up, music fans... As well as putting the kibosh on pubs, football, going to the supermarket in a normal fashion, and the availability of antibacterial wipes, this absolute nonce of a virus is also threatening countless independent music venues up and down the land, one of which is Stoke's very own Sugarmill. If they (and others like them) go to the wall then they're extremely unlikely to ever return, meaning that (a) once this pandemic is over you'll have to go further afield to see decent bands, most likely in soulless corporate sheds and (b) all music in the future will be made exclusively by trust fund cunts as many not-so-advantaged new artists won't have anywhere to hone their craft. Don't let this happen, head over to The Sugarmill's Crowdfunder page and give 'em a hand and donate if you can: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/savethesugarmillFor 26 years this excellent venue (it's the best small venue in the country imo) has consistently brought nationally and internationally acclaimed bands, artists, DJs and clubnights to our doorstep and it’d be a travesty if it vanished. This campaign The Mill is running is in conjunction with the Music Venues Trust's Save Our Venues initiative that aims to rescue hundreds of at-risk independent grassroots music and arts spaces across the country - if you're not local to Stoke then you can choose to help a venue closer to where you are by going to this page and selecting one from the map to find their Crowdfunder details. Dig deep, save jobs, save essential community spaces, save independent music culture. Cheers. Admin - any chance of pinning this?

Favourite nightclub in the world.
Bit too old to go there for club nights these days but there was a period of about five years when I went there every Friday night.

Donated, just hope they use some of it to do summat about them toilets !! I suspect that the cash they're trying to raise is to cover its outgoings and safeguard its existence (whilst they have no income from gigs) - I'd imagine that tarting the building up is currently way down its list of priorities.

Doesn't look as though the Underground are on there. Have they got a similar page to donate on?

They've got time to clear out the beer lines at least. I had some rancid pints at the Sugarmill back in the day. Just checked to try and donate but they say they're alright. One of the only ones on the map that made it, great job Stokies

A bloke I know is doing the tiling for them. I have no information about the beer lines however. Surely though, the rule of thumb for customers of any sticky floored music venue has always been 'don't drink the draught'? 😂

I went a few in Holland a few years ago and their beer selection was much better.

The Sugarmill taught me that rule and I shouldn't complain too much about good life education.
