I know we've got some space nerds on here, so can any of you tell me if/when I can watch this go over Stoke? I assume I can see it with my eyes? (IE: I don't need a telescope or some shit) And I can also see it within Stoke (I haven't got fuck off into some remote field & get arrested for breaking the lockdown or owt?)

Youβll want to head out about 9.55pm tomorrow mate, looking west to east. The flyover is for 9.58pm and will be a bright one for 6 minutes, visibility should be good.

Thereβs a free app which will track all the Starlinks in real time and will give you timings and direction from your location. Itβs been fairly accurate to within a few minutes or so for me.
The apps called Find Starlink ( has a blue rocket on the logo ).

Looks clear tonight. As a total non-space-expert the site appears to say they'll be visible in Telford at 958pm for 6 mins. Stupid question of the day, can I possibly miss them if it's clear skies?

Itβs the elevation that catches people out. I was looking in the right direction but way to high in the sky. That was about 9pm a few weeks ago it wasnt fully dark and they were partially obscured by the tree line. Caught the last few though. Hopefully itβll be good viewing tonight π

Where were you located? Cellarhead mate, no light pollution in our garden so very lucky, I was mesmerised. If I am not mistaken they were travelling as I looked up from slightly south west to slightly north east and just South of Leo constellation??

I saw quite a few exactly where the app predicted ( although a few minutes late). This was Starlink 5,6 which has now settled in orbit and the individual satellites are quite a distance apart now.
I think the 23rd April sees another launch of 50 or 60. These will be closely grouped for the first few days so will appear as more of a train.
Not sure we will see it over England yet, obviously depends on the trajectory at launch.

Yup, bye bye ground based astronomy. Well it's certainly going to change the way we view the night sky that's for sure and do we really need these? Just read Musk is planning up to 30,000 of the buggers!

Just looked on the app at the "Find visible times" section, and it says "Cancelled" for tonight's 10.34p.m. performance. Anyone shed any light on the reason why/how it could be "Cancelled"?
Have they been shut down for grouping too closely together, breaking cosmic distancing laws?

Well I can confirm that they were "cosmic social distancing" last night Mickmills, my app says we are on for tonight between 8:58 & 9:04 pm but not great visibility and also better viewing at 10:34 pm for 6 minutes! I think Bath was right! βπΌπ€π
