Man Utd played a home game against West Brom at the Victoria Ground. I have the programme and am trying to find the reason why it was played at Stoke.

I did not see the article in the Sentinel. I guessed that it was probably hooligan related.

Think that was a European match mate? At Plymouth?!? They were ordered to play more than 250 miles from Manchester. Home Park at the time had a capacity of 38,000 or something like that in the good old days of vast terraces. BM

As I remember though that night Argyle turned out in force to defend their territory against the threat of marauding Mancs and other hangers on. BM

BM I lived in Plymouth for seven years and it is indeed the biggest glory hunting city in the country. But my old civvie janner mates did reckon the Man Utd game had the effect of siphoning support away from Argyle.

Did Plymouth serve Prawn Sandwiches at the match for United fans, or was it Devon Crab?
