Bbc not reporting it? Surprise surprise. If they do it will be posted up near midnight in a corner of the website where nobody sees it. From anti-semitism to racism: labour are doing a good job election-on-election of making a mockery out of the concept that they stand for people of all backgrounds.

Why is somebody from Virginia so interested in our election? You've got your own Biden/Trump puppet show. Intrigued.

I only left Stoke a few years ago, lived there for the vast majority of my life and all of my family are within about 20 mins of Newcastle. + chatting online is addictive and I like politics.

Fair enough mate. I hope you won't be offended if I don't show the same level of interest in 2 Yankee geriatrics trying to buy the biggest 'democracy' in the world

Fair play. “None of your fucking business” must have been a tempting reply 😂 Ha! No, I type a lot on here and I do live in the US now, so I think it’s a fair question. Until I’m sworn in (hopefully in the next few weeks), the British elections are still the only ones that I can vote in (I won’t because I’d feel uncomfortable with not living there, but still, it interests me).

You don’t think David Williams has principles Huddy? He will do well in Stoke North as he is a good local councillor.

That video is doctored isn't it? I'm sure his lips don't move in synch with the audio when he says "You'll find this funny children".

Get your money on Torsten Bell for the next leader of the Labour Party. Currently 100/1. You heard it here first.

"No son, but ask me again in 18-24 months as Starmer has a plan to tackle the underlying issues of child poverty"

Labour to win is an amalgamation of Progress and Labour First. Liz Kendal, Luke Akehurst, Peter Mandelson etc..

Corbyn will just fall short, Labour are throwing the kitchen sink at North Islington to the detriment of places such as Clacton where they have literally packed up and stopped campaigning. They are shipping PLP members, Councillors and big hitters such as Mandleson in from all parts of the country to lend support as well as a big chunk of their budget for media etc. It will be Labour by around 3,000 I reckon.......

As the nation is on the threshold of appointing Starmer as PM, this is this morning's view from America. foreignpolicy.com/2024/07/03/starmer-labour-blair-election-britain-tories-optimism/I sincerely hope Starmer proves better than Blair or Brown. Blair took the country to war on the basis of let us say misinformation. Both handed over control of inflation to the Bank of England who have that single eyed objective and care little about unemployment, poverty, homelessness, etc. Both sat on their hands and did nothing about controlling the massive increase in borrowing during their terms of office. Personal debt on credit cards etc. went through the roof; borrowing for mortgages etc. got totally out of control and the banks over reached themselves. So when the inevitable crash came the UK was impacted more than any other country. It was a false boom bubble based on borrowing which eventually had to burst. Both cared little for industry or the views of traditional working class Labour voters. Factory after factory opened in the Thatcher years like Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, etc. closed and left the country. Brown to his credit did prevent the UK joining the Euro, which would have been disastrous for the UK economy, when Blair wanted to join. Blair of course was young, had done a deal to hand over to Brown, and had his eye on being head of Europe for his next job. Blair failed to put any controls on EU citizens entering the UK, unlike Merkel did in Germany, when the east European states joined the EU. Consequently, so we got a flood of cheap labour, lack of investment in modern plant and equipment, investment went abroad, unemployment of UK citizens, and overloading of public services. It is an unfortunate fact that every Labour government has left power with the economy in a worse state than they inherited from the Tories. (I am not a Tory.) I hope Starmer can change that record. Now we have left the EU there is every opportunity to take control of our destiny and reverse the damage of the last half a century and return to the growth rate we enjoyed prior to joining the EEC in the 70s.
