A quick message to see if anyone can help, or knows someone who can help, my dad. He moved to Torquay from Stoke on retirement and lives alone in a retirement flat (my mum passed away from cancer over 20 years ago).
He is 76 and has asthma, as well as being a lifelong smoker, which marks him as high risk. He has been told not to go out at all, but there is no grocery delivery option or online ordering available in his area (he has no internet, anyway, likes lots of old folk). He is down to his last few bits of food and is really worried about going out to the supermarket. He has no mask or gloves, as there aren't any around.
If anyone is in the vicinity of Torquay and able to drop a few things off for him on Middle Warberry Rd, I will pay for them and your petrol money online (wire transfer/paypal). It would mean the world to me. Thanks

Has he contacted the local authority? My council are running a coordination service where they take your details by phone and then they pass you onto volunteers who will do shopping, collect prescriptions etc. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a similar service near to where he is. If he is classed as one of the vulnerable group he’s guaranteed help. Here is the helpline: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScXfCikatEQtW2Gpesn5qjdlacx5-WUSxh0r9XrKNDB_j9QDA/viewform

Jezza if your Dad has been identified as at risk of severe illness if he contracts COVID-19 he will have recieved a letter similar to this. This is what I recieved couple of weeks ago as I am at risk due to being less than 6 months since completing chemotherapy following cancer last year. I have left all the contact details visible on it for you to use if you know he is in this category. Ironically I am less than 30 miles from your Dad but am confined to home so can’t even walk down the street. Good luck mate hope your Dad is ok. Attachment Deleted

Thanks, guys, contacting the local people in Torbay worked and they called to help him by delivering groceries. Stay safe one and all. The lady opposite me is 97 and her son lives in Weymouth, he's been ordering food through Wiltshire Foods a couple of times a day and they're pretty good to be fair. I know not everyone can afford the expense especially at the moment but if you are able to it would give him regular meals daily and take the worry way. She has a regular driver and he'll even pick up bread and milk for he when she needs it and I'm not around because of work......

And I can be sure shes getting a decent meal every day too.

Hope he is all sorted out, this is the sort of post that brings a tear to my eye. Well done to all those involved. We need more of these kind actions going on in this country that's for sure. I am on the Isle of Wight if that is of any use to anyone in a similar situation.
Stay safe all.
