Wonder if he's under contract here for 1 more year - or 2?
I think transfermarkt says 2021 , but wouldn't bank on that
There's nothing official anywhere.
If it's next summer, could be the last we see of him.
Would imagine it was a 4-yr contract we gave him though, given we were in the habit of offering big deals then.
So he could be back next summer?

This is it now isn't it? All Turkish clubs have a hotline to Stoke, the soft sacks in England, that will happily lend you their crap for pennies. It seems to be the only country that has clubs willing to take on shite players and pay their wages. If we can get rid of Afobe, maybe we can find a Turkish club daft enough to take Wimmer? We should start offering BOGOF deals for them......

Trabzonspor want to replace Alexander Sørloth. He will be sold to to RB Leipzig or Tottenham for around 30 mill. Euro. Then Trabzonspor will have money to buy Afobe. link

I wonder if we could declare the part of the business that part funds players for the Turkish market a 'Charity' and avoid some tax?

Will this give us any more wriggle room one transfer market? Other than a loan signing or 2 I can't see us do anymore business. Afobe will be on of the top earners (£25k ish category) so if they're paying his wage it's a big tick in the box....

Will this give us any more wriggle room one transfer market? Every player whose wages are taken off our wage bill improves out FFP position. Of course, we need to know how close we are to breaching FFP before we know whether the loss of Afobe's wages helps us much. Edit: As Prestwich says above, an incoming loan is easier to fit into the budget as there is no transfer fee or signing on fee to pay. Wimmer and Bauer would help a lot if they were to leave on loan or transfer.

Why does it seem we can only loan excess stock off to other clubs & it keeps happening again & again until eventually the players contract whittles down & we get absolutely nothing back with regards to a return on the huge transfer fees we shell out for them originally.. & yet we can never seem to play the same game with other clubs this way & do the same by bringing players in for season long loan deals instead of having to purchase them outright for vast sums on lengthy contracts! Its such a disastrous model we keep using in this respect of simply loaning big money signings out! As I mentioned on the Wimmer thread yesterday, if this model was used by a big non footy multi million pound business heads would roll im sure of it. Yet we've been hearing for seasons now from Scholes who tells us about the due diligence that is involved in every signing we make, what an absolute joke! Woods, Wimmer, Imbula, Bauer, Ndiaye, Etebo & now Afobe etc etc all coming for vast sums of money on lengthy contracts & then loaned off just to get them out the door. Once or twice I do get as not all signings despite good intentions always work, but we really seem to the masters of working to this diabolical & quite frankly amertourish model! The fact other clubs don't want want to pay hard cash for any of our players these days shows that none of them have any sell on value which is shocking. Even one time big money assets such as Butland & even Joe Allen now would only likely get a loan move away or move for very little!

Shows these players who go to turkey do at least want to play football.
Not sure I’d be arsed on playing over there.
Suppose it’s better than our U23s mind.
Good that we haven’t loaned him to a rival.
Interesting that we are now the feeder club to a majority of Turkish clubs!

If Gregory is surplus as well and departs, I think Fletcher, Vokes, Campbell and Brown give us a variety of options?.

Responsible for all football related matters I turned a world top 31 richest club into a feeder club for penniless Turkish bottom feeders in 4 short years , got relegated , spent £50m , took borrowing past £150m , halved income and kept my job .
