£20M on him and Vokes Nothing wrong with the process. Makes you weep. Saying that, I believe the process such that it is, was overridden by the managers. I think that when the targets identified were lost due to the chief exec's ham fisted negotiating that in panic the managers were indulged. It would explain Wimmer, Bauer and Imbula for Hughes, Afobe for Rowett (though perhaps he just doesn't fit with this club). Fuck knows who wanted Vokes, not sure if Jones did or just went along with it. The real scandal is the extension of Bauer when no manager was in place.

I’d move him on if we’re going to play one up front. We have 4 decent strikers at the club plus him.

i agree with you mate and hopefully we can find homes for all the others who do not want to be here,if it was not for there pay packet Yes, wages and FFP playing a big part here I guess. Along with one or two others, was supposedly our marquee signing at the time. You don't intend to pay 10M+ for someone to just hang around behind the scenes. Not sure what the problem is this time around. MON was bigging him up recently, so something must have happened for him to not be included in the squad.

It's the first time he's worked with him and he's discovered what the rest of us already know - he isn't very good at football.

I always think back to this article from Kevin Phillips and how different it may have been had Rowett had a different voice in his ear when deciding where to splodge £12m that summer. Dwight Gayle would probably have come in - and may well have fired us to promotion?! www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/03/20/phillips-wanted-derby-to-sign-wolves-star-afobe-in-2015-but-clem/When I first joined Derby two-and-a-half years ago with Paul Clement we sat down and I remember clearly he asked what it would take to get promoted and I said to go and sign Benik Afobe,” Phillips wrote in his Express and Star column. “Paul thought it would cost £15m to sign him and I remarked that’d be the difference between going up or not. “That’s how highly I rate the guy at this level – he will guarantee you goals with the right service.”

don,t think Afobe will feature much for us we have to many strikers maybe if he can get a move before the deadline it will suit both partys, Benik deserves a bit of happyness after is family tragedy I think he’ll play on Thursday

I guess it's as simple as Afobe hasn't looked as good as the alternatives in training and games so far, and I'm afraid he never will. Would be best for all parties if he could find a new club now, can't see him being picked before Campbell and Brown any longer. Another loan with a view to a permanent transfer that won't happen I presume!

That's certainly what that ex-director said on twitter

Either him or Vokes need moving on for sake of FFP, neither inspire any real confidence that they will score many. In fact tbh I, personally, have even less confidence in Vokes. Seems like MoN likes Vokes though.

He got a pay rise when leaving Burnley to come to us that's for sure but his earnings are not eyewatering when compared to some. They are way more than he would deserve given his ability and performances to date but they are commensurate with the 8-9m transfer fee that we paid. As ever though, when talking players' salaries, it's all 100% conjecture because no one knows the true detail of the contract.
