I think the fans become bored of the football as a few key signings didnt come off, we hit a point of stability but fans wanted more, a poor end to a season didnt help and it was probably time for a fresh approach, but ffs, mark hughes??? A fresh failure from qpr??? Is that the best we could do? We obviously wanted a manager that would crawl over broken glass to get the gig and settle for our new approach to transfers as part of the deal.
In hindsight pulis should have been given more time and the money to really bring in some quality to freshen things up, one bad season in how many he had been here? Made some inspired signings from nowhere along the way. Man utd had bad seasons under Ferguson's but they stuck with him well the team went under surgery, he had 3 or 4 good teams with man u. Had stoke signed demba ba he may have never been sacked.
Unfortunately Hughes wasn't able to see how lucky he was to inherit such a squad of strong charcters, and didn't see this was a vital part of the success he had in his first 2-3 seasons. He then started to get rid of the good guys one by one, terrible decision like getting rid of Huth (the worst one), Whelan, Walters, Bardsley just to mention a few.
Along with the fact that he despised TP so wanted to rid the club of any connection with him!
I sort of feel Hughes was more lucky than clever in his sesons at Stoke, but we experienced some wonderful football though! Still I think Hughes stumbled into a lucky formula without seeing why!
