The world might be locked down but those crazy bastards at the Belarusian Premier League aren't going to let a little thing like Coronavirus get in their way. So for those missing live football why not adopt a team and have a few quid on them? My team is FC Gorodeya, currently 0-0 at home to Shakhtyor after half an hour. The giants of Dinamo Minsk lost 3-2 in their derby game away at Minsk who've gone top of the league early doors: Minsk 2 games 6 pts Energytk-BGU 2 games 6 pts Torpedo BelAZ 2 games 6 pts Dinamo Brest 2 games 4 pts Slutsk 2 games 3 pts Isloch 1 game 3 pts Vitebsk 1 game 3 pts Ruh Brest 2 games 3 pts Slavia 2 games 3 pts Smolevichy-STI 1 game 1 pt Gorodeya 1 game 0 pts Neman Grodno 1 game 0 pts Shakhytor 1 game 0 pts Dinamo Minsk 2 games 0 pts BATE 2 games 0 pts Belshina 2 games 0 pts Tomorrows fixtures to look out for are: Ishloch v Smolevichy-STI (14:00) Neman Grodno v Vitebsk (16:00) All you need to know about the Belarusian Premier LeaguePick a team, have a few quid on them, watch them on YouTube, kill a couple of hours.....

Literally the only league in the world playing football. I thought Burundi was still going, but alas they have also postponed their matches.

When they breed the likes of Sergei Shtaniuk, it doesn't surprise me that they are still playing. Crazy bastards 😂

I've had a few bets on it! Been trying to get an affinity going but sadly none of them wear red and white stripes. I do find myself being drawn towards Slutsk though.

My adopted team have just gone one down and my 2nd bet of the day is going to rat shit. Looks like I've randomly picked the Belarusian equivalent of Stoke at least.....

Great Country Belarus. Gets a bad press but the locals are sound and very hospitable. Went into their equivalent of Harrods in Minsk and bought a bottle of their top drawer Vodka for the sum of the equivalent of around £1.80.

FC Gorodeya’s capacity is only just over a thousand. I think the Minsk derby only attracted about 3,500 so people are obviously staying away.... CORRECTION it was actually a sell out.

I'm torn between which Brest to go for!

I'm torn between which Brest to go for! It's been a dramatic rise for FC Rukh Brest who only formed in 2016 and got promoted to the Premier League just 2 season later, whilst the more experienced FC Dynamo Brest secured their first title last season. So whilst both Brest's are on the up, I would go for the smaller Brest, rather than the larger Brest. But to be honest I could live with either.....

Any predictions for today then folks?
Ishloch v Smolevichy-STI (14:00)
I'm going for a comfortable Ishloch win (h/t & f/t), the FC Minsk stadium really has become a fortress for them, and with the indomitable Momo Yansane firing on all cylinders up front I can only see one outcome.
Neman Grodno v Vitebsk (16:00)
This one's a lot tougher to call, Vitebsk travel to the Neman stadium on the back of a poor season, but with their Brazilian trio of Wanderson Maranhao, Julio Cesar and Diego Carioca (if he isn't nicknamed the "Carioca Machine" then it's criminal) expected to feature, I can see them nicking it (draw h/t Vitebsk f/t).
Good luck guys, and remember when the fun stops, stop.......

1-0 Isloch at half time, Yansane with the early strike.
Worth watching just to admire the work of the accordion player in the crowd.
EDIT - Game over, hard fought victory and the first bet in the bag. The second half was turgid dog shit it has to be said, and the accordionist went from sounding like Laurence Welk to the guy on spice outside my local Threshers. Miss of the season so far as well, Stephen Hawking could have slotted that one home:

Neman Grodno 0 Vitebsk 0 at half time.
Classic Joe Jordan tactics from the Vitebsk manager, they've well and truly parked the bus. Fuck me it's a hard watch....

EDIT Neman take a 1-0 lead, great for the game shit for my bet. DOUBLE EDIT 2-0 Neman, it's good night nurse.....

There’s loads of links to streams of the games on Twitter. I just clicked on one today and both games were on. I think you can watch it through the likes of Bet365 as well. The standard is - shall we say - a bit iffy at times. Quite enjoyable though, loads of blood and thunder. Any game is decent is you have a bet or two riding on it I suppose.....

There's a YouTube channel called "Bald and Bankrupt". An English guy who's been documenting his travels through the former Soviet states. I can't recall him mentioning the football in Belarus but it's a fascinating watch if you like that kind of thing.
