It's so hard on the young at least with most older people there's some perspective. My son's final year at Uni has been trashed and a graduation probably ruined. My daughter was working in Paris when she had to come home because of issues there and work in New York, Singapore and Barcelona all cancelled now. Great news for me as I get more time to bore them spend with them, she's a fabulous cook and baker and I've taught him to mow the lawns Just awaiting the home made blueberry muffins fresh from the oven..... I'm having to run 8 miles every day to offset the additional calories I'm fortunate mate my lad in Germany has support and some financial security but my other lad has nowt. He's just moved into his own rented house and that looks doomed now. I'll sort him as best I can but he looks to be wanting to come home atm he's struggling but he wont leave his dog behind !! Frank Lin , my son is in a similar position, but only from Chester, but he has come home....and brought his dog with him....the cat is not happy.

My eldest is in Brisbane in a rented house and all flights with freight (dogs) are cancelled. He's looking for work but as you would expect he's finding it tough. I'm fortunate to be able to pay his rent for him until he can get something but his living costs are draining his small savings. My other lad is doing ok in Germany worse case he's eligible for unemployment benefits over there. It's a worry having family abroad and not being able to get to them when they are struggling. Facetime is a god send to be able to keep their chins up.

So, another 3-4 pages of a thread have been removed due to the usual handful of posters hijacking it with their personal vendettas.
Patience is wearing thin fellas. Behave like the adults we presume you are or you WILL be banned.

I remember years ago sitting at a customers house and the resident German Shepherd walked just a little to close to the cat, chilling on a dining chair, and promptly got a whack across the head

Behave like the adults we presume you are or you WILL be banned. A suggestion. Unpin the main Coronavirus thread and leave it as a standard thread in EE. It can find its feet there. I’ll kick off a new apolitical thread - because I’m giving the original thread a miss from now on as that has been corrupted by cheap political point scoring masquerading as political criticism.

The cat's 19 , always been a loner and king of the area. Dog's a Boston terrier pup, just wants to play and chase. Sometimes the cat does stand his ground, but we are scared that he may take the dog's bulging eye out! Other times there's a chase round the garden.

Send the cat around mine I'm having problems with a thieving Vole eating all my spring bulbs and Dahlia tubers 🤬 I'll get it though I've loaded my humane traps for tonight and I'll bog it off over the greenway.

When he was younger this cat was a typical Tom...could chase and catch anything , fought everything....He's only got half an ear, scarred nose, When he was about one he was hit by two cars, in one incident, and survived. Only the other day he chased a youngster off his territory.

Boris, We had two 19 years ago from Stapley rescue, unfortunately the female died two months ago.....never caught a thing in her life. I actually prefer dogs but somehow ended up with cats....easier to look after , I suppose but I'm enjoying my sons dog.

Never been that fond of cats since a child Could have something to do with the one I grew up with Black and white Tom cat lived to be around eighteen never had his balls cut one eye half a ear would sooner snarl and hiss than purr still fighting to the end Even had a problem with the postman on the odd occasion as the cat would hide under the car and run out and attack his leg

He didn't bother with human affection until he was about 16

Here we go - oil companies never ones to miss a chance to make some extra $, they've decided to reduce the production of oil as the demand has fallen due to the C19 pandemic thus increasing the cost of a barrel. Can't wait for a vaccine to be developed and watch the pharmaceuticals to charge an extortionate amount for it. Gouranga.

I thought oil companies always move production up and down to keep the price where they want it to be.

Ultimately though it’s the traders who determine the price. BTW, the story of how a New York Stock exchange founded in 1872 trading butter, cheese and (shortly after starting) eggs before diversifying into potatoes during WW2 became the centre of Crude Oil Futures is a fascinating one. It’s one of the stories in The Prize by Daniel Yergun which tells the history of the oil industry from its start to the mid 90s when it was published. If you have the time and inclination it is well worth a read.

Nearly Naked Veg down here in Devon have increased the cost of a fruit & veg box from 20 to 30 quid. A 20 quid box lasted us over 2 weeks for two of us. I phoned them and they said people were demanding bigger boxes. I asked why didn’t they offer 2 sizes, said they couldn't as demand for smaller box wasn’t sufficient. Bollox. Now getting box from RD Johns for £22 and it’s got loads more than the NNV. Anybody noticed the increase in pop up ads from home equity release companies,

Disney corporation furloughed 100,000 staff whilst planning to pay executive bonuses and dividends to investors to the tune of an expected $1.5 billion . This would have paid wages for 3 months. They're always been known as a ruthless company

My missus was furloughed just over a month ago on the 80%. They have just told staff to return to work but on reduced hours as half the shops they work in are closed so in reality she will be on less money at work than on furlough because she has less than 80% of her work to do.
