Lolly used to be a term for the tongue way back when. Even today, when a tongue is hanging out of the mouth it's called 'lolling'. As for the 'pop', well your guess is as good as mine.

In Yorkshire lolly pops are the little hard things we (used to) dip in kahli (our name for sherbert/crystals). Ice lollies - used to love the cider ones from Ice cream vans, Zoom and Fab! And ice pops are the iced things in little plastic see through things that you cut off the top and push the ice up. Like the little iced things in cartons (plastic or card type).
